Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?
All the weddings at Farnham Castle are so special we couldn't possibly answer that question. We love seeing how every couple bring their own theme or floral scheme to the venue - and there's nothing more beautiful than a stunning floral installation hanging from our chandelier centrepiece in the Great Hall. The fairylights in our Great Hall and Stone Hall also look spectacular!
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Choose a venue where the staff understand exactly what you are looking. Loving the team you're working with (and the venue of course) will make your wedding planning experience ass stress-free as possible so that you and your guests can enjoy every moment.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
We love how every wedding is different, but a trend that we're seeing at the moment is offering your guests a personalised cocktail or a unique shot, as the evening reception begins with a unique phrase such as: 'We tied the knot, take a shot'.
Describe your venue in 5 adjectives.
Stunning, historic, unique, extraordinary and elegant.
Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
We are lucky to have a fantastic grounds team who keep our five acres of gardens looking beautiful all year round. Plus being an 11th century Castle, there are some fabulous architectural features around the entire venue. The Rose Garden is a favourite location for wedding photography as is the historic Keep, and the Fox's Steps for those all important confetti shots.
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
Everyone, guest, bride or groom is a VIP at Farnham Castle. Recently though, Rod Stewart and his charming wife Penny Lancaster attended a wedding at the Castle. In true celeb style, they arrived by helicopter. Watch our wedding video to get an idea of what your day at Farnham Castle could look like.
What’s your favourite canapé?
We offer a selection of wedding canapes from the farm, from the sea and from the field. A favourite with our guests is our sausage (bespoke to Farnham Castle), with ale braised onions, mashed potato and thyme veal jus, followed closely by our salt and sichuan pepper dusted squid pieces with a tangy Korean gochujang, honey and garlic dipping sauce. Our Head Chef has been creating menus in the Castle Kitchens for 18+ years so he is a true expert when it comes to preparing the food for your wedding.
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
Again, our chefs are really creative when it comes to evening food. We have a huge choice of evening wedding reception food, including a selection of favourites from Wood Fired Pizza to American Diner, Paella and event Street Food. We even have Churros or doughnut stations available for couples with a sweet tooth! Speak to our Wedding Team to find out more.
What is your venue's most unique feature?
Farnham Castle was originally built for the Bishops of Winchester so, as well as several areas licensed for civil ceremonies, we also have two unique and beautiful Chapels for ceremonies or blessings. We are one of very few venues in the whole of the UK who offer the choice of two Ceremony Chapels.
