Autumn wedding
We had our wedding at Crumplebury at the start of November. It is a truly beautiful venue set in peaceful countryside and the autumnal colours were exactly what we wanted. The menu for the day was created specifically for us and the food was delicious but also good value. We were invited to the Green Cow kitchen to try their tasting menu which was a great experience in the lead up to the wedding. Gabriella and the team were outstanding throughout the planning process and were on hand during the day to ensure it went smoothly - we can’t fault their service. Thank you so much for helping to make our day perfect!

The day was incredible
If you are looking for a luxury day at a reasonable price, then look no further. Right from the start Gabriella and the team were so accommodating, helpful and supportive. We felt extremely well looked after throughout the whole experience. We loved that we could visit as many times as we liked beforehand to get an idea of themes and decor, and to explore the 1,500-acre estate. It was so handy being given the time to set up the day before – it felt very intimate and we were not rushed in the slightest. The day itself was incredible, we were so well looked after by Louis and the team. The food is locally sourced from the farm and surrounding area and prepared on site at Green Cow Kitchens which was really important to us. There is plenty of space at the venue – we had 65 to the day and 100 in the evening. It could have definitely held more. Thank you so much Keeley, Joe, Gabriella, Louis and the team. We can't wait to come back and visit Green Cow Kitchens for our anniversary.

What a stunning venue!
What a stunning venue! Had a few days here for a wedding and the venue has lots of lovely rooms and outdoor areas, including a woodland set-up nearby! It was great staying in accommodation so close, the staff were fantastic, and all the meals were delicious - enjoyed every part of it. What a special, tranquil place for a wedding!

Perfection - our dream wedding became our reality!
Where do we even begin to explain how wonderful Crumplebury is? We first saw the venue as a shell of a building, as it was still being built at the time when my husband and I were newly engaged and looking for our dream wedding venue! Even as a building site, we knew that it was something truly special; and the passion Joe and Keeley showed when explaining to us their dreams for Crumplebury and the atmosphere they were hoping to create was so inspiring; we knew we couldn’t get married anywhere else. We then began liaising with Gabriella to organise our dream day; and she was an absolute pleasure to work with from start to finish. Her warmth, willingness to help and professionalism were massively appreciated in the lead up to the wedding; she is an absolute credit to the team and she ensured that we had the best day of our lives. At no point did we feel like we were on a ‘wedding conveyor belt’, we were so well looked after and we are so thankful that we could enjoy a whole weekend of wedding festivities with our nearest and dearest. The venue is also perfect for food lovers; with everything from the canapés, sit down meals, and breakfasts the morning after being truly outstanding. Thank you so much to the chef who put together the amazing menus for us, and for ensuring our tummies didn’t rumble for the whole weekend! We cannot wait to return to Crumplebury in the future, whether it be a woodland feast or other dining event. You have gained two extremely happy, loyal customers and thank you once again for making our dream wedding a reality.

FAQ

Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?

Crumplebury weddings are as unique and extraordinary as our couples. Whatever your dream, we've the space and the imagination to curate your perfect day. From weddings with enchanted woodland feasts at their heart to magical candlelit ceremonies in the Art Gallery, relaxed 'I dos' under the ancient oak pagoda in Longfield Wood to grand celebrations in the Grand Hall, every one is different and memorable, and totally bespoke to you.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Make your day personal, a reflection of you as a couple - your story, shared interests, family, personal style, favourite travels. This will make your day unique to you, rather than a wedding built on recycled ideas from other weddings. Don't be in a rush to make all the decisions straight away. Yes, securing your venue and key creative partners – your must-have florist, favourite photographer etc – is important, but don't jump into smaller details too soon. Let ideas flow for a while before you make the final call. Most importantly, enjoy the process. Think of your wedding planning as a journey. As with any journey, who you travel with and how you travel can be more important than the destination.

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

It's so difficult to choose one. We've seen so many, from live wedding painters to guest books full photographs of the bride and groom with their favourite people – such a wonderful way of sparking memories of old adventures, and looking forward to making new ones.

Describe your venue in 5 adjectives.

Breathtakingly beautiful, modern, unique, extraordinary, romantic.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?

There are so many... Underneath the enormous cedar tree is a pretty spectacular spot. But then there are the 180-degree views from the Art Gallery balcony, across our farm fields with our herds of Beef Shorthorn and Saler cattle, and Lleyn sheep. In spring, the bluebell woods are magical. In winter, the twinkling fairy lights and grand piano up in the woods make incredible shots.

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?

Our lips are sealed. This beautiful corner of Herefordshire – nestled as we are at the end of a mile-and-a-half long private track – is delightfully secluded. This privacy and exclusivity is increasingly important to our guests, high-profile and otherwise. And so of course we'd never breathe a word.

What’s your favourite canapé?

All of the food we serve here, including the canapés, is a seasonal celebration of what's best on the home farm and estate. In autumn and winter, game from our shoot plays a starring role. In spring, it's the turn of wild garlic and Whitbourne Estate lamb. In summer, the bounty from our kitchen garden comes into its own, along with foraged ingredients from our woods and hedgerows, all carefully-curated by our incredible kitchen brigade.

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

The sky's the limit. Every wedding menu our Executive Chef creates is bespoke, incorporating the couple's favourite elements.

What is your venue's most unique feature?

Breathtakingly modern spaces set in 1,500 acres of private family estate, tucked away in a valley at the end of a private drive with huge skies, babbling brooks, farm fields and woodland.

What part of your business are you most proud of?

Crumplebury is our family home. Set in the heart of the Herefordshire countryside, we’re surrounded by splendid woodland, luscious green fields and the happy animals on our home farm. Crumplebury was the name of Whitbourne Estate’s old pigsty. The 18th century red brick build remains at the centre of what is now an exquisite, modern space, and is home to our critically-acclaimed fine-dining restaurant, Green Cow Kitchens. At Crumplebury, we pair the warmth of a family service with a deep care for culinary excellence, we celebrate seasonality and showcase the freshest produce grown in our woods, our fields and our kitchen gardens. We curate bespoke events and delight in the extraordinary. Whatever your dream, we have the space and the imagination to make it a reality.
