The Lost Village Of Dode Full Description
Located in an almost forgotten valley between Luddesdown and Holly Hill in the heart of the Kent countryside, there stood, sadly unloved, and decaying, a former Norman church built over 900 years ago – the only trace of the now ‘lost’ village of Dode. Now having been lovingly restored by the current owners, this beautiful, charming, privately owned medieval church is known as The Lost Village of Dode and is available for hire. We can now offer you a magical, relaxed, romantic, unique wedding venue for up to 40 of your closest family and friends, with some on-site Self-catering accommodation. The Lost Village of Dode is perfect for couples who want to begin their tale of love, romance and desire, either inside or outside. You can choose from an intimate indoor Civil Ceremony, Partnership or Renewal of Vows. For an outdoor Blessing or Pagan Handfasting Ceremony, you can hold your event within the ancient Stone Circle followed by a Wedding Reception with dancing, and then stay overnight on-site, in one of the two superb award-winning cottages. We offer bespoke weddings tailored to each couple or package weddings, so you can have your perfect day exactly the way you want it. After your ceremony guests can spend time in the stunning grounds, enabling you to have your group photos and enjoy a glass of bubbles and perhaps a selection of canapés. For your evening reception, we work alongside a number of fantastic professional caterers who can provide a Medieval Style Banquet Wedding Breakfast Reception with all the trimmings. Your Wedding Breakfast can include a hog roast or a roast lamb (catering for various dietary requirements), grazing tables or an afternoon tea. We also offer a number of unique additions to your day including an Owl to deliver your rings, cuddly alpacas or bubbles as you leave the church. Dog friendly so you'll be welcome to bring your furry friends with you. No hidden charges and no corkage charge either!

Everything was simply perfect...
It will take a long time for Dan and I to process what happened on Thursday. It really was beyond anything we had hoped for, (and our expectations were high!) Undoubtedly it was the best day of our lives. As my Mum said, "everything was simply perfect." We cannot thank you enough. Everyone involved in making the day happen, (yourself, Paul, Jo from Moody Blooms, Sally at Flying Pig) were just incredible. Thank you. x

It far exceeded our expectations...
Dan and I had a perfect day. It far exceeded our expectations and our vision. Dode was the perfect setting for our quirky heterosexual medieval themed Civil Partnership and Handfasting ceremonies. Our guests stated that they had an amazing time and the food from Sally and Rob at Flying Pig was exceptional and there was so much of it!!!! Paul was on hand all day to cater to our every need. The food, entertainment and whole experience was far better than we could ever have imagined.x

Unique magical venue with a spiritual heart
The Dode was absolutely perfect for our nontraditional civil partnership medieval style pagan wedding. Steeped in history and a sense of peace and wonder. The Dode is a gem in the heart of Kent. The venue organisers are very open to unique ideas, you decide the ingredients for your special day, we had a town crier announce guests, a handfasting, a jester doing circus skills, haribo rings, a medieval feast, and a ceilidh band. We loved that the Church is used for the ceremony, meal and reception. A truly magical day!

We had the best day ever...
It was magical, better than we could have imagined. There isn't anything I would change about the whole day. We were extremely lucky with the weather. We had a beautiful sunset as well! Everyone said how amazing the venue is and how they've never been anywhere like it. Our dogs had the best day ever as well and I'm so glad they were with us. The flying pig and double bubble were amazing. Paul was fantastic and very helpful x
