The Great Barn is a listed Kentish barn in Rolvenden which is available for private hire for weddings and parties. This fine barn dating from the 18th century forms part of a range of traditional brick and timber farm buildings last used for agriculture in the mid-1980s. It is constructed entirely of a heavy timber frame with the outer walls clad in weatherboard under a tiled roof. The Great Barn is full of character in a rural situation and being a dry hire venue, is a magnificent setting in which clients can create their own distinctive event.

We first viewed The Great Barn in August 2024, and we instantly fell in love with it. Within a couple of weeks, we had our wedding date booked! We got married there on Saturday, and I honestly can’t express how beautiful and perfect our day was. Booking a dry hire venue can feel a little overwhelming at first, but The Great Barn made the process so much easier. We were given a booklet of recommended suppliers, and we chose many of them for our day. We hired BBQ caterers, an inflatable pub (which also doubled as a marquee if the weather turned), furniture from a local company, and glassware, among other essentials. Everything came together perfectly. We held our entire day at the barn, from the ceremony through to the evening celebration. There are several options for where to hold your ceremony, allowing you to design the day exactly how you want it. The venue itself is absolutely stunning, so we felt it didn’t need lots of decorations, and we were right. We wanted our guests to enjoy the barn’s natural beauty, and it provided the most incredible backdrop. You also have plenty of time beforehand to set everything up and afterwards to tidy away, which made the whole experience much less stressful. Liz was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. Her communication was faultless, and nothing was ever too much trouble. Even on the day itself, she played such an important role in making sure everything ran smoothly and was always available at the end of the phone if we needed her. We honestly can’t thank her enough for everything she did. We’re so gutted our day is over! I couldn’t recommend The Great Barn highly enough to anyone looking for a wedding venue, or any special occasion. The Perfect VenueThe Perfect Venue
Just a quick note to say what a perfect venue The Great Barn was for my daughter's wedding. Everybody commented on its beautiful peaceful setting and it all looked so pretty with the meadowsweet growing in the ditch and the wild flowers round the apple trees in the orchard. The Barn itself is unique in its unspoilt, rural feel. A number of guests commented on how historical and grounded in the land it felt - we loved that too. Please don't ever tart it up! It worked so well for us having the ceremony on the upper floor and then the wedding breakfast on the lower floor whilst the upper level was converted to a bar area. The fabulous caterers then moved enough tables to create a dance floor and the party continued! There was plenty of space for the guests to move around and find sun or shade according to their wishes. As you probably saw I went to town with the decorations! I couldn't have done it without being able to start on the Wednesday so that was an added bonus for me. I also really appreciated being able to go over there at various times in the last year to help me with my planning. Everyone at Great Barn Weddings was super helpful at all times and I was impressed at the speed at which you answered my questions and dealt with my requests. I will of course recommend it to everyone I know and most my local guests are already hoping to have their daughters' weddings there! Sadly I only have boys left! Liz was such an amazing help with our wedding day. The barn and surrounding areas are so gorgeous, Our photos turned out amazing. Having the barn from the Wednesday to set up for our wedding on the Saturday was such a massive help & meant that the set up was less stressful and more enjoyable for us! We love the freedom you have to make it exactly how you want it to be. We have no faults at all, such an amazing wedding venue! Liz was such an amazing help with our wedding day. The barn and surrounding areas are so gorgeous, Our photos turned out amazing. For those looking for a space where you have creative freedom, and that provides a stunning backdrop, there simply can't be many better venues. Liz, the host, was so helpful throughout the whole process from initially showing us around the venue, through to booking, helping us find suppliers, answering increasingly stressed questions and being there on the day to help ensure everything went without a hitch. The venue is amazing both internally and externally. The grounds mean that (weather providing! we were very lucky!!) you can choose to have your day inside or out which made it even better. Since we got married, so many of our guests have praised the venue and the informal style of wedding that it allowed us to hold. We really couldn't recommend the venue more highly!We got married at the Great Barn in June 2023, and had the best day we could possibly imagine.
