My husband and I got married 10 days ago at FHI. We were the victims of a covid wedding, which eventually (by our own choice) was pushed back by 2 years. Was it worth the wait? Absolutely. They stuck with us throughout the pandemic, unlike other wedding venues. The couples are at the heart of this business - exactly how it should be. Thank you to all involved in our wedding. Sam (wedding co-ord) - you were amazing! We had various zoom meetings in the build up to our wedding, constantly being kept in the loop, with lots of options available.
A great selling point for this venue is they are dog friendly - ours walked down the aisle and was our ring bearer. You won't find that in most venues, so if your furbaby is important to you, you cannot go wrong with this venue.
You have two options - get married outside in the gazebo, or inside in the barn. We opted for the first, with the barn as a back up if required. What we liked about this venue is we would have been happy with either, so if it rained and we ended up getting married in the barn, we would still be happy. Thankfully the weather was on our side and it was sunny the entire day, so we stuck outside!
The FHI catered for a menu we wanted which wasn't specifically on the choices offered; they also went out of their way and catered for an individual we had that had so many dietary requirements they couldn't have any of our options. To put it in perspective - this person said she usually has to bring her own food to weddings, so she was over the moon the catering team could accommodate. My husband and I don't drink alcohol, so the venue offered us a non alcoholic drink (which was amazing, you should put this on your regular menu) - peach coolie with something, and was perfect!
The day itself couldn't have gone better. Getting ready in the morning - maybe a suggestion would be to get ready at Mocketts farm down the road, its a little bigger than the room on offer at the venue. They have a number of beautiful cottages (the FHI website will direct you to them), we booked them from the night before and had a BBQ with friends and family. A really nice touch before the big day.
On the day, Sam kept us to time, and also kept checking with us we were happy with everything, including the layout before allowing guests to enter the main events room. The wedding was just how we imagined it. Absolutely perfect.
Our meals were served in the events suite. The food was good, and all food was served within minutes of the top table getting theirs. The chocolate brownie was the best!
There is accommodation available to purchase at the venue (11 rooms in total), which are held exclusively for you I think up to 3 months before the wedding. All the rooms are beautiful - couples, go for room 6 over the honeymoon suite - there is an amazing bath in there!!! Breakfast the next morning was also included.
To sum it up, we wouldn't change our wedding day for anything and we have no regrets whatsoever. We are so grateful for such a wonderful day, thank you so much!!!
Response from the venue
