Lympne Castle Full Description
Located on 139 acres of beautiful English countryside, spattered with ancient Roman ruins and an unrivalled view of the English Channel, sits the beautiful and iconic Lympne Castle. A notable landmark that has welcomed kings and nobility for centuries, Lympne Castle will fulfill your fantasy and make your dreams a reality. Experience both medieval and Edwardian eras in the West Drawing Room (West Wing) of Lympne Castle. The room, added during the castle’s restoration by architect Sir Robert Lorimer, boasts a stunning view from its large bow window facing the southeast coast. The wood panelling and stone fireplace add to the room’s warm and imposing ambiance, making it the perfect setting for your ceremony with a seating capacity of up to 90 guests or your wedding breakfast for up to 50 guests. In the Great Hall at Lympne Castle, panelled walls, wooden roof beams, and gothic arched windows transport you to a time of lively conversation, clinking goblets, and musical feasts. Perfect for a grand civil ceremony, this room can accommodate up to 120 guests for a ceremony and a wedding breakfast for up to 90 guests. From the terrace of Lympne Castle, you and your guests can enjoy the stunning views of the castle grounds and towards the English Channel, noting the historic ruins of Stutfall Castle and the curve of the natural coast line that once adorned the castle doorsteps. Make use of our top and bottom lawns, along with our castle turret for your ceremony and/or drinks reception. Just a brief stroll from the castle’s entrance, you’ll discover our delightful and beautifully appointed self-catering cottages. These inviting abodes provide cozy accommodation. The quaint and unassuming historic stone exterior unfolds into spacious havens fitted with period piece furniture and decorated in the manor fit for a stay at an English castle. The Cottages at Lympne Castle offer a range of two to three bedrooms each.

Superb!
Enjoyed a birthday meal celebration in the same room that the couple got married in several years earlier. Service was superb, layout & ambience perfect. Roaring fireplace, delicious Christmas dinner. Even the heavy rain couldn't dampen the mood. Brilliant visit! Food & drinks: Incredible, delicious. Even the gravy jugs, dinner plates & vegetable platters were quirky and fabulous editions!

Great venue
It was our first time back since the new ownership. We always liked the venue (easy load in, amazing views, it’s a castle!). But it has improved dramatically. Really friendly staff from our perspective, and a great atmosphere. Also, the food was better than before, it was lovely (we just had cooked buffet, but it was great). Apparently they will be turning the upstairs rooms into accommodation in the future. It has so much potential and it’s great to see it being used.

Nothing was too much!
We had our wedding here in October and everyone commented on how beautiful the venue was. Not only that, but the staff were incredible. They adapted so much to our last minute changes due to health issues, and were there with us every step of the way through an already stressful day, and helping us set up a live video stream so that my mum was able to see the ceremony. Stunning venue, beautiful people, amazing accommodation. They also accommodated our 8 weeks old puppy at last minute without a hitch. Thank you for making our day so special. Nothing we asked for was too much.

Describe the best wedding that happened at Lympne Castle?

The best thing about weddings at the castle, is they're all so unique. Our most memorable wedding took place on a beautiful day in Spring, the couple were both history enthusiasts, so the castle was the perfect setting for them to say I-do. They worked with our wedding team to organise an array of entertainment for their guests such as jugglers, jesters, backgammon, giant chess and even archery. The guests were enjoying the activities so much that they didn't want to sit down for the wedding breakfast - until they caught the smell of a full hog roast with all the trimmings! It was a fantastic day and so wonderful to see the couples dreams of a medieval themed wedding come to life!

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Set a budget from the start and try to stick to it! This will help you determine your guest list and will help you decide what's most important to you both.

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

A bride had sadly lost both her parents and was planning to walk down the aisle alone, which was very upsetting for her. When it came time to enter her groom walked down the aisle and met her and walked arm in arm with her. It was the most special moment as they walked into their married life together. There wasn't a dry eye in the room and you could tell it meant so much to the bride.

Describe Lympne Castle in 5 adjectives

Beautiful Unique Breathtaking Magical Exclusive

Where’s the best photo spot at Lympne Castle?

This is a hard one as there are so many spots and areas of natural beauty surrounding the castle, however, my personal favourite would have to be the turret in the rear garden over looking the Kent coast and English Channel!

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at Lympne Castle?

We've had plenty of VIP guests over the years due to the luxury and grandeur of the castle. We've also had a few film and TV productions at the castle and Paul McCartney famously recorded at the castle with Wings.

What’s your favourite canapé?

Japanese breaded prawns with honey and wasabi but the honey and mustard sausage skewers are a favourite amongst guests.

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

You cannot beat a bacon roll at the end of the night to see your guests off.

What is Lympne Castle most unique feature?

It is a grade 1 listed, exclusive use castle with breathtaking views stretching from Hythe to Rye and on a clear day you can see France.

What part of your business are you most proud of?

The staff, nothing is ever too much trouble and they go above and beyond for our guests!
