Ingress Abbey is a Grade II listed Tudor Gothic mansion in Greenhithe, Kent, where stone stairs and lawns fall away to the River Thames. The house has nearly two centuries of history and the estate more than six, from the Dominican nuns of Dartford Priory and Henry VIII's royal retreat to the Victorian parties of James Harmer and the Thames Nautical Training College.
Your hire includes the Abbey's grand rooms and principal spaces - the Gold Room, which can also be used for dancing in the evening, the Hall beneath the Gothic gallery and the light-filled Orangery - plus all of the gardens and grounds. Marry here under our civil ceremony licence, or hold your ceremony elsewhere and bring your guests back for the reception. Let drinks flow through the Gold Room, the Hall and the Orangery, step out into the flagstone courtyard, and dine indoors or in a marquee in the formal gardens. As a dry-hire venue, you choose your own caterer and suppliers from our approved list, and you can bring your own DJ or band.
For a truly relaxed celebration, the whole Coach House is available to book for accommodation as an optional extra, for a separate fee. With two large king-size bedrooms, a mezzanine bedroom with a queen-size bed, a sitting room, dining area and kitchen, it is a peaceful place to get ready and to come back to afterwards.
The same rooms work beautifully for milestone birthdays, anniversaries, family celebrations, corporate dinners and photo or film shoots. There is a commercial kitchen for your caterers and parking on site.
