Horsted Place Country House Hotel Full Description
We have three areas licensed for wedding ceremonies: the intimate Library can seat up to 48 guests while the larger Terrace Room with French doors on to the wonderful gardens seats up to one hundred. Ceremonies can also take place outside on the lawn with guests seated in front of the Victorian style summerhouse where the register is signed - magical on a perfect summer's day. Throughout the year and whatever the season, the house and gardens provide a beautiful setting with flexible indoor spaces for less than perfect weather. In autumn and winter the house is warm and welcoming with log fires and soft lighting and in the spring the garden really comes to life at bluebell time.

Beautiful relaxed and delicious lunch
Sticking by the rules this year could have left us feeling strange and stilted, but the staff at beautiful Horsted Place made us feel so welcome and relaxed. We had a scrumptious private lunch in the lovely Library. We were served so courteously and unobtrusively, in our distanced chairs at our distanced tables in a ventilated room. All was clear and supportive. Gorgeous long romantic drive up the the amazing mansion. From my first enquiry to our last goodbye today, all the staff have been professional, helpful and kind. I also loved the food! Just the right sized portions and really intense and delicious tastes. Hoping to return and fully recommend!

Thank you
Just a quick note to thank you and all your staff for the Wedding Breakfast. My partner (Groom's mother) and I were absolutely delighted with the way it all went: the service, the food, the room – in fact everything was faultless. And the same appreciation was expressed by every guest.

Everything just perfect in this magical place
My husband and I stayed here for Valentines Day in the Neville Suite (its huge and the bath tub is like a swimming pool) and it was just amazing. Everything about this hotel is perfect. The staff are so attentive, warm and friendly and nothing is to much trouble. Its immaculately clean in all areas (i'm immensely fussy and this is the cleanest hotel i've ever stayed in!) The food is to die for, presentation is wonderful and the homemade share bread is delicious. We used the swimming pool, steam room etc at the other hotel East Sussex National which was a really nice surprise. Thank you so much Horsted Place for such a fabulous stay keep doing what you do as its perfect and we will be back very soon!!

Four Kippers and a Wedding
Horsted Place is not just an architectural gem in the beautiful Sussex countryside and it isn't just a country hotel like so many others...it has staff that have that most rare of qualities: professionalism and warmth. From check-in to a wistful check-out we were looked after with the sort of care that is, well, unusually good. Our breakfast waitress was exceptional as were the kippers on offer: not coloured, not over smoked, not over salty, cooked perfectly, beautiful. If you don't like kippers you'll have other high quality choices so don't worry. Horsted Place also managed the wedding of our dear friends and in a word- stunning. A hotel we needed to catch a plane to reach and one we do so again to visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Describe the best wedding that happened at Horsted Place Country House Hotel?

Weddings at Horsted Place are all so special and unique it is hard to pick a favourite. We loved the one with a "garden-fete" theme in the summer - cream teas, lots of bunting, fun and games and a brilliant bride v groom team relay race in the paddock involving a top hat and a bridal veil! Christmas weddings are wonderful too when the house is beautifully decorated with real trees, log fires and candlelight - wonderfully romantic. One of the best named their nine tables after Santa's reindeer with Rudolph as the top table.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Don't forget to book the ceremony. It's surprising how often that needs a little prompt..............

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

It was at a wedding hosted by a family of keen beekeepers. The favours were beautiful little homemade candles in the shape of beehives and small pots of their own honey.

Describe Horsted Place Country House Hotel in 5 adjectives

Charming, secluded, traditional, flexible, individual

Where’s the best photo spot at Horsted Place Country House Hotel?

There are numerous photo opportunities at Horsted Place - the photographers are spoilt for choice whatever the weather. I like the "aerial" group shots on the croquet lawn taken from the window of the Windsor Suite - they really showcase the beauty of the garden.

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at Horsted Place Country House Hotel?

We've had many celebrities here but I am not at liberty to say who........................we've been in Hello magazine a couple of times!

What’s your favourite canapé?

Deep fried crab balls

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

A great cheeseboard of local artisan cheeses with crackers, celery and grapes

What is Horsted Place Country House Hotel most unique feature?

Our most unique feature is probably the fabulous staircase in the Long Gallery. It was designed especially for the first owner of the house by Pugin who also designed the House of Lords and it is stunning. It is wonderful for photographs.

What part of your business are you most proud of?

We are all very proud of the house and garden which are both beautiful and very special but the part of the business I am most proud of is the personal service and attention to detail given to all our engaged couples by our experienced and dedicated team
