Had originally booked this hotel back in July but had to cancel due to our cat getting ill! When we rang to cancel we were surprisingly asked if we wanted to move our booking to another date. We fully expected to lose the lot, especially as we had booked non-refundable through Booking.com They also very honestly credited us with the difference between the rate in July and the rate for the moved booking which was in October. This gave us £143 to spend in the bar and restaurant. How good was that?!. When we got to the hotel we were upgraded to one of the Suites. This sort of thing never happens to us! Superb. The room itself was fab with a particularly good shower. Easy to control, great temperature and excellent flow rate. We also had a bath in the room and this also was first rate. Filled up really quick and pipping hot.. We ended up eating both nights of our stay. We never intended to but the weather on the first night was awful. And we're glad we did. It was superb. My duck was particularly good.. Next day we came down for breakfast, which was not included, so we expected to pay. After we'd ordered we were told that it was on the house as we had just in passing told a member of staff that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. How nice. Again, this sort of thing doesn't happen to us!. All in all our stay was brilliant. The Staff genuinely couldn't do enough for us and the quality of the food and drink was superb. If we did have one small gripe, some parts of the room could do with a bit of TLC Loose light fittings, chipped paint and woodwork, wobbly tiles in the bathroom. But to be fair we're seeing a lot of this sort of low level maintenance issues wherever we stay. Seems like nobody has the funds or time to invest in these areas. All in all a great hotel and staff and would definitely stay again. Many thanks.
