Situated in the historic village of Sudbury Derbyshire, The Gasworks has been recently restored, with the help of the Heritage Lottery Fund and is now managed by Sudbury Gasworks Restoration Trust, a registered charity in the UK. The Gasworks is not your normal wedding venue. Your booking helps to ensure the charity can continue to look after this important historic building for future generations to enjoy. It also supports the trusts charitable objectives including, combating rural isolation and supporting people in improving their health and mental wellbeing.
When you book your wedding with us you have exclusive hire from Friday afternoon until Sunday midday. We want your wedding to be as relaxed as possible and to give you and your suppliers time to set up and pack away. Prefect if your wanting to DIY your decor or if your suppliers are creating show stopping installations and need extra time to get it just right.
We are licensed for weddings and civil ceremonies inside the retort and gasholder and also within our grounds giving you plenty of choice on where to say your “I Do’s”.
The Gasworks is a blank canvas with an industrial yet modern feel throughout the building. The round reception hall, built on the footprint of the former gasholder, is very industrial in construction with dark metal off white wood cladding. The retort room, in the original part of the building, is bare brick walls with a replica retort bench in situ. This gives a very different back drop for your wedding ceremony and is a great talking point for your guests.
The Gasworks also has an outdoor courtyard, small woodland area and grass paddock.
Dedicated on the day wedding coordination, including creating a detailed schedule of your day and timeline, leasing with suppliers and overseeing the set up of The Gasworks, managing any last minute hiccups and assisting your guests.
