On 28th February 2023 we were awarded the South of Scotland Regional Wedding Venue of the Year 2023 award at the 10th Scottish Wedding Awards in Glasgow; an award nominated and voted for by our previous couples (their friends, family and guest). Everything was perfect

We are so grateful and cannot begin to thank Runningburn enough for making our day so special. Jim and Yvonne went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for us. From collecting items from our ceremony venue to helping us set up our tables or putting our decor out around the venue - they were happy to help with whatever we needed. The food was absolutely delicious - everyone loved it. The venue is just absolutely gorgeous and the perfect background for all your photos

No brainer!

We had our wedding reception at Runningburn in July 2023, the stunning views made the venue choice a no brainer. However it is the Runningburn team who make it as special as it is. They are always on hand to answer any questions in the run up to your big day. Jim and Yvonne go above and beyond during the set up and on the big day itself, even entertaining our one year old son! The catering and bar staff are second to none - the cocktail list and canapé choice are out of this world!

Incredibly Special

Our wedding at Runningburn was so incredibly special and everything we hoped it would be. Absolutely nothing was too much for Yvonne & Jim, and they ran everything like clockwork whilst still having such a chilled out, relaxed vibe that our guests still comment on it even now. We got married outside, with the view to the hills behind, and it was absolutely stunning - we kept just pausing to take it in throughout the day.

Phenomenal experience

From start to finish, this venue was outstanding. Beautiful location with stunning views and everything you could need on site. Mags, Yvonne and all the staff could not do enough to help and make everything as stress free as possible and ensured the day ran smoothly. The food was incredible and everyone had their needs catered to. Can not recommend this place enough! Our wedding day was the best day of our lives and a huge part of that is down to this wonderful venue and all its staff.

My Wedding Day

Runningburn is the best place to get married. I had my service and party there, nothing was to much trouble and Yvonne and Jim were hands on from start to finish. Having the venue for 3 days before my wedding was just amazing, it meant we could take our time to make sure everything was perfect for our special day. The views and the whole place has the WOW factor, amazing from start ot finish drinks flowing on arrival right down to the meal which was on time and serviced beautifully and hot.......just amazing. No other place could out do Runningburn Farm.

The day so special - we had the perfect day!

We got married at Runningburn and could not fault the whole experience. The venue was everything we could’ve wanted, the staff (bar & catering) were perfect and the owners, Jim & Yvonne were outstanding. Nothing was too much of an ask. Mags was a huge help with all the planning & there was nothing missed. The bar served specific drinks we asked for & the cocktails were a treat! The caterer served an amazing 3 course meal (which was chosen by us) & was highly praised by our guests.

A fabulous venue, with exceptional views

Runningburn is a fabulous venue, with exceptional views & a great location. It has everything under one roof which was important to us to have a bar, dining area, dance floor, catering kitchen & toilets all within easy reach of each other. The fairy lights on the marquee lining ceiling & star cloth back drop by the dance floor make it look very magical! From start to finish the planning & support was amazing

We are circa 30 minutes from Galashiels/ Tweedbank or 50 minutes from Berwick. We are 1 hour from Edinburgh and less than 2 hours from Newcastle. We are less than 2.5 hours from Glasgow and/ or Carlisle. We are on a farm so you can't get to us via public transport however buses can access the venue (and easily get turned onsite) plus there are lots of fabulous, local accommodation providers in and around Kelso if you and your guests wish to make a weekend of it.

All our weddings are amazing and we truly mean that.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

If you want a burger for your wedding breakfast then use a venue that gives you a selection of burgers! It is your special day and you should enjoy the experience therefore our top tip is choose a venue that you love and makes the whole experience relaxed and amazing from start to finish.

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

There have been lots of lovely personal touches at our weddings we can't select one. Some of the different things we have seen are: We sourced a specific bottle of Rum which the bride's late father always used to drink so the happy couple and guests could have a personalised toast to her late dad. We also have a wall of string lights, with wooden pegs, that couples are encouraged to personalise by hanging lots of photos of their relationship. We have had a lot of brides and grooms make their centre pieces and onsite accessories/ including table plans etc which is always lovely to see (please note you don't have to do this but you are welcome to do it if you wish). We have had a few couples give charity badges, scratch cards etc as favours for lost loved ones which is always a really nice touch.

We have a truly stunning/ breath-taking view onsite so the backdrop for all the photos taken onsite are stunning plus we also have an established pond onsite with another one under construction specifically for wedding photos.

Oh there are too many to pick just one but Sticky Sausages are always very popular, as are the Haggis and Black Pudding Bites, the mini goats cheese tarts, the salmon rolls, the list goes on and on......

Left over Buffet rolls - Hog roast, Bacon and/ or Sausage...

What part of your business are you most proud of?

All of it: We have a stunning venue. The venue has been finished to a very high standard and is perfect for couples to personalise and decorate as they wish. We all love seeing each couples colour schemes and decorations within the venue - its amazing how different each wedding looks. Our personal service - We are a small team and really care about each and everyone of our couples and making their special day truly magical.
