Description

The Laigh Hall with vaulted ceiling seats up to 80 guests for a civil wedding ceremony. Religious and humanist ceremonies can also take place. The Laigh Hall can be set for a seated meal for approximately 80 people and is a great space for having a ceilidh. Upstairs is the Great Hall, which can be set for a seated meal for approximately 60 people. It is also the perfect place for a buffet, or a quieter space for guests, whilst having dancing downstairs. The extraordinary Batiks, tell the story of Mary Queen of Scots, and infuse the Hall with a colourful sense of drama and history. The Guard Room is an atmospheric bar or place to sit, with it's roaring fire and 'long drop'. The Dungeon has been used as a cinema, and Queen Mary's Room is a charming space to prepare in, and to stay for a blissful wedding night. On the top floor you can have a drinks reception or night club, for those intrepid guests who like exploring. For larger weddings, a marquee can be sited in the grounds. A booking at Neidpath Castle is for the venue only, although our team are on hand to help organise your day if you should wish.

We hold two weddings a week, one arriving Tuesday and departing Thursday, the other arriving Friday and departing Sunday. The venue hire rates do change throughout the year, here is what is included in the costs for a weekend wedding: - Two nights’ accommodation for you both in the luxurious Queen Mary’s Chamber - Two nights in the adjacent Neidpath Barmkin, sleeping up to 6 guests - Exclusive use of the Castle and grounds for you to relax and enjoy your day privately with your guests - Dedicated support from one of our experienced Event Designers to help plan your day at the castle and co-ordinate with your suppliers - Luxury Continental Breakfast Hamper in Queen Mary’s Chamber for you to enjoy - A candle-lit ceremony as standard - Roaring log fires inside the Castle and Courtyard braziers for your guests to cosy round - A selection of outdoor traditional lawn games - PA system and portable speakers - Use of the family sword to cut your cake!

MAGICAL! PERFECTION!MAGICAL! PERFECTION!
We can’t say enough about our experience with Neidpath from beginning to end. Planning a wedding from overseas could have felt impossible, but from our very first Zoom tour, the team made it so easy for us to picture our day and start planning with total confidence, even from thousands of miles away. What struck us right away was how perfectly authentic, historic and “Scottish medieval castle” Neidpath was. It’s not all new, shiny, and fancy and that is what makes it unique and so special. As well, we loved Neidpath’s wedding packages and what they included to make our planning so much easier. We had the castle to ourselves for the whole weekend, along with the Barmkin cottage on-site. The rustic, character-filled castle gave our wedding a warmth and history we couldn’t have found anywhere else. From decorative candles and flowers throughout to food/catering planning and coordination, so many of the details most couples have to piece together themselves were already thoughtfully built in. And because they work so closely with trusted local vendors, everything came together seamlessly, even from overseas. At the center of it all was our wedding coordinator, Sandy. She was amazing and fun, and working with her felt less like hiring a vendor and more like having a family member running the show. She personalized every detail, right down to tracking down our favorite American bourbon in Scotland for us. Sandy and the team also took wonderful care of the little things that matter most: our daughters’ allergies were handled without a second thought, and their recommendations throughout the planning process made us feel completely taken care of. Our ceremony in the breathtaking Laigh Hall was more magical than we ever imagined, and it felt like something out of a fairytale. Neidpath Castle is also a photographers dream -the stone walls,light and shadows, curved walls and surrounding landscape along the River Tweed all just make for THE most stunning wedding photos. Location wise, travel to the castle from Edinburgh or Glasgow is easily arranged for out of town guests. Bonus is the adorable wee town of Peebles which is a mile from the castle and has shops, pubs, lodging and restaurants. We were both completely blown away and so were our guests. The venue is so beautiful, even better than we imagined. We had a member of staff all day to help us make sure everything was running smoothly, and they were so kind and helpful the whole time. One of a kindOne of a kind
This magical place deserves 10 stars! My husband and I stayed at Neidpath Castle for 3 nights. It was truly an enchanted experience! It is like taking a step back in time to a medieval fancy (with modern amenities). You will feel like the laird and lady of the castle. It is a wee little walk to the charming little town of Peebles with unique shops and great restaurants. It is close enough to Edinburgh and Sterling for a day trip and be able to return to the comfort and serenity of a country estate. The staff at the castle are wonderful. Sandy helped coordinate a surprise vow renewal ceremony for my husband. Though it was just us, Sandy helped make it almost as memorable as our actual wedding. I highly recommend reserving the private dinner while there. It is worth every cent. Their private chef is incredibly talented. It was the best meal we had while in Scotland. If you are a nerd like me, the castle makes for an amazing photo shoot. Is it haunted, maybe. Just show it respect and it will respect you. This magical place deserves 10 stars! I had assumed that an element of project management would be an unavoidable part of the day, but how wrong I was. The team was completely on top of everything - any time I turned to see if something was on track, it had already been done. It was so smooth, that I was truly able to relax into the day and enjoy it. We've had so many friends tell us it was one of the best weddings they have been to, and the Neidpath team were an essential part of that. We will be eternally grateful for making our special day completely effortless. Thank you so much to the incredible events team at Neidpath Castle for what was a perfect day. Our wedding at Neidpath was magical, when they told us at our first viewing that we could think of it as our castle for the day they weren’t exaggerating. The team was incredibly helpful, ensuring that our day was perfectly tailored to our desires. We were able to incorporate a touch of Mexico to the very Scottish setting, which made the celebration even more special! Their team are all lovely, great to work with and eager to hear new ideas. Their recommendations of providers was extensive, making our life’s easier while planning and in the end everything turned out perfect. We honestly could not have hoped for a more perfect wedding at Neidpath Castle. The venue itself was spectacularly charming and helped create a meaningful and welcoming atmosphere for our wedding. All the staff go above and beyond, and the bed is the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on outside of my own home! First, this place is gorgeous, inside and out and across the grounds (the view from the roof is amazing!). It feels grand to explore but also has perfect spaces for the ceremony, dinner, and dancing. The fact that we could stay in the castle overnight, and get ready on site, made the day run so much more smoothly. The location is also pretty fantastic, with plenty of hotel space just a short taxi ride away (some guests even walked back at the end of the night.) But honestly, none of that would matter if the staff interacting with you weren't good. So much of the stress or lack of stress before and during the wedding comes down to how easy it is to work with everyone, I believe. And the staff at Neidpath are INCREDIBLE. They are so kind, so helpful, so calm in the face of our general pre-wedding anxieties, so easy to talk to, and such pros, from the moment we first viewed the venue right through the wedding itself. For all the details we cared about, they went above and beyond to help us make them a reality. For all the details we didn't care about, they confidently filled in the gaps for us. Everything ran perfectly on the day, with the Neidpath team and all our suppliers expertly coordinating through every moment. I keep thinking about my wedding day and saying “why would anyone not get married at Neidpath?” The venue was stunning, we never even toured it before booking and it exceeded expectations. Rachel Mays helped coordinate everything to a T - responding to random messages about steamers the night before haha. Everything I imaged went perfect, from Highland Coo Cakes, Snack Bar at the end of the night, Ceilidh Band, hiding things for guests to find around the castle. I loved this venue option because you have the whole castle to yourself all day. Travel Notes

From Edinburgh and the north, go to Peebles. Go right at the roundabout towards ‘Town Centre’ and ‘Glasgow’. Go through the High Street and at the end of it, turn right in front of the church steps. Follow this road out of Peebles and up a hill. Neidpath Castle is about 100 yards from the end of the speed limit, on your left. From the south, take the M6 to the A74M. At Exit 15, take the A701 to Moffat. Carry on through Moffat on the A701 and continue for about 22 miles. Just before Broughton, take the right turn onto the B712 to Peebles. Go through Drumelzier and Stobo and then turn right at the T junction, onto the A72 towards Peebles. Pass a quarry on your left and then a white cottage on your right. The road then does a series of sharp bends after which Neidpath is on your right (there is a sign for it just before).
