This is an honest (and long) review!.......
We booked our wedding two years prior to our wedding date after reading all 5-star reviews. After our initial visit, we fell in love with the place. David was very helpful and welcoming and answered lots of questions and even invited us back the following year, around the same date we would be wed, so we could see what the gardens would look like at that time of year, everything seemed perfect.
Due to a change in work, we had to move country before our wedding and as you can imagine, organising a wedding from another country was worrying. As the time grew closer to the wedding, I was becoming a nervous wreck! It was good to know that we had a lot less to worry about than most couples due to what was included in our package.
Unfortunately, I made the mistake of reading some negative reviews prior to the wedding, which were completely different from the reviews we read before booking. Now, as an already extremely nervous bride and organising a wedding from another country, this honestly made me panic. Panicking to the point I was dreading our wedding day.
I only had to email Debbie once to show her my cake ideas and my colour choices for the wedding day etc. and that was that. Being the panicking bride, I thought that there must be more to it, why are we not having lots of communication going over everything again and again like you hear about most weddings??? I now realise that’s because David and Debbie are so good at what they do, there is no need to be inundated with infinite details. Debbie got everything I wanted spot-on from the start, and the wedding cake not only looked amazing, but it tasted divine!! Every detail I had provided was done perfectly; even better than what I imagined.
As for the house itself, it is beautiful, absolutely stunning. If you are after a modern, sleek designed, meticulous house, then this probably isn't for you. However, if you are looking for a genuine beauty with character, charm, warmth, and love, then this is the place. The house is a very old property, that's what it is, and it has been lovingly cared for. The grounds are just amazing, you can see how much time and effort has been spent on them.
From our arrival, Debbie made us feel more than welcome and completely relaxed. Everyone settled in quickly, even the dog.
Our wedding day itself was beyond what we anticipated and of course, my nerves were even worse! Louise looked after us all in the morning and made everything run smoothly. When Becky, our wedding co-ordinator arrived she immediately gave me the 'calm' I needed (even when I was continually telling her I was going to be sick due to the nerves!). She was so supportive, and she really was my piece of calm through the entire day, she is a complete asset to the venue. All the kids at the wedding had an absolute ball, having their pizza party and had no need to listen to the boring adult's speeches. Our photographer, videographer and singer were all looked after throughout the day too.
Every member of staff was outstanding, every single one of them worked super hard and was always so friendly, supportive, and welcoming. David and Debbie's two boys are an absolute credit to them both, they worked exceptionally hard every day. The chef was just an absolute gem, every bit of food out of his kitchen was just superb!
Branxholm Park House really is something special. We wanted a very intimate wedding, along with basically a big house party, and that is exactly what we got; it really was far beyond our expectations. By far, the most favourite part for us was the ceremony itself in the gorgeous little chapel on site. It was so personal, intimate, special, and memorable. We would have paid just for the ceremony itself, everything else included was a bonus. Also, for me, the fact that our dog was with us the entire time, meant the world!
So, to David, Debbie, the boys, Becky, and every single member of staff, thank you so very much for the best weekend of our lives!
