Perfect Peak venue
The Peak District Holiday Barn was the perfect venue for our weekend of wedding celebrations! We loved the split of outside and indoor space - we held our ceremony outside and spent most of the afternoon playing garden games, before going inside for our meal, live band, and dancing. The accommodation was brilliant. It was very well equipped and all the rooms were really comfortable. In addition to the bedrooms, there are some great communal areas where we enjoyed spending time with close friends and family before and after our wedding. Marie and Mark were super helpful in the lead up to our celebrations - thank you!

Perfect DIY venue in the Peak District
Recommend this very highly if you want a DIY wedding in the Peak District. The site caters pretty much everything you don't want to have to organise (including chairs, tables, power, parking) and leaves you to do all the fun stuff. And it is very nice to look at and spend time in. Loads of care has gone into the place. Marie and Mark very helpful throughout. Brilliant location next to great pub and cafe and loads of nice villages and walks a few mins drive away. We had a perfect weekend, 80-90 guests, could have had a few more with no problem.

Describe the best wedding that happened at Peak District Holiday Barn?

In a recent wedding at the barn, the couple arrived with an abundance of foliage and flowers which were decked around the edges of the barn walls, as well as in an array of old vases, and festooned round the entrance porch. The entire space sparkled with fairy lights, and giant-sized bunting made personally for them by the bride's best friend with vintage lace and textiles. One of the Mum's had grown a lot the flowers in her own garden, which was a lovely personal touch. They brought their own beautifully designed giant hoop which was decked with their home grown flowers, and they stood underneath it on the lawn, saying their vows informally with the help of a local Celebrant. They dined on sharing roast joints, deli platters and barbecue from a local butcher and caterer, and later they added wood fired pizzas made in our own pizza oven. They had a mixture of music, including a fantastic acoustic set during the day for the informal ceremony and drinks reception, moving to live music in the early evening followed by a DJ. The next day they relaxed in the large wood burning hot tub with family and friends, which was a great way to decompress after their big day and spend some extra quality time with their family and friends.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Keep asking questions, and visit the barn as many times as you want to in the run up to your wedding, to make sure you've thought of everything.

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

A large sign created by a couple who had to keep rescheduling their wedding due to Covid restrictions; the sign read: "WE HAVE WAITED 1018 DAYS FOR THIS!!!". It was such a lovely mix of humour and excitement.

Describe Peak District Holiday Barn in 5 adjectives

Unique, Large, Exclusive, DIY, Relaxed

Where’s the best photo spot at Peak District Holiday Barn?

The beautiful local stone of the renovated Holiday Barn, or the rural backdrop of Peter's Stone across the road.

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at Peak District Holiday Barn?

Fearne Cotton. Tina Malone

What’s your favourite canapé?

Mini Yorkshire puddings with braised beef chuck steak and horseradish sauce – always the first to disappear. Or for vegetarians, mozzarella and sun-blushed tomato arancini – deep fried risotto balls with a fresh Mediterranean flavour.

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

Making Smores around the pizza oven...who doesn't like gooey toasted marshmallows, sandwiched together with chocolate digestives?

What is Peak District Holiday Barn most unique feature?

All of the barn buildings were originally agricultural, housing cows, horses, pigs and sheepdogs, as well as a hayloft. It took 4 years to restore them to the beautiful barns they are today, in the heart of the Peak District National Park. So where you dance was once a tractor shed, where you relax and drink was once home to cows, and if you stay in the honeymoon cottage, this was once a pigsty! The wedding barn, as well as its history, is a great size, measuring 22m x 12m, meaning there is plenty of space for dining, toasting, dancing and socialising-safe in the knowledge that you won't be interrupted by any livestock during your celebrations...

What part of your business are you most proud of?

Restoring old buildings is a huge passion of ours, and this was a pretty spectacular restoration. Weddings at the barn have developed organically over the last 15 years, from marquee liners on hardstanding, to the transformed timber and corrugated-clad insulated bespoke space you see today, complete with large sail drapes, festoon lighting, connecting games room, catering space, WCs and covered terrace. We are proud of being able to develop such a wonderful space, and for the feedback we get from our couples, which reminds us of how far we have come with our barn.
