"Just three miles south of Ripon, North Yorkshire, there is an extraordinary footpath that will lead you from the medieval ruins of Fountains Abbey, across undulating wooded parkland and bring you to Markenfield Hall, an impossibly lovely 13th and early 14th century fortified manor house, entirely surrounded by its moat. Despite its fairy tale exterior Markenfield is in fact home to Mr Ian Curteis and his wife, Lady Deirdre."
Country Life, 2019
A truly unique venue, its outline reflected in the encircling moat, Markenfield provides a wonderfully intimate venue for a wedding. Hidden in the rolling North Yorkshire countryside, yet within easy reach of Ripon, Harrogate and Leeds, Markenfield Hall is indeed a remarkable medieval survival.
Unlike many venues, Markenfield Hall does not offer a fixed wedding package. Because of the intimate nature of the Hall, we have the ability to tailor your day around you. We will simply outline the different alternatives available, and then let you decide what you would like to do, where you would like to do it and when.
All catering at Markenfield is carried out by The Dusty Miller. Brian and Elizabeth’s bespoke service allows you to work with them to devise a menu based upon any idea that you may already have, or any absolute must-haves. They will be able to advise you what will be available locally and seasonally. From this, they will produce a menu for you - from a canape reception to a four course meal.
