Description

Hi, I’m Tara, and Madeira is my home. I love sharing it with couples and helping them create weddings that feel completely their own.

Madeira in Fife is a secluded estate nestled in the East Neuk of Fife, one of Scotland’s sunniest coastlines. Surrounded by woodland and centred around a two-acre walled garden, the estate is home to charming cottages and three romantic tree houses, offering a magical setting for weddings that feel like a true escape in nature.

Couples can hire the entire estate, with accommodation for 24–36 guests, creating a fully immersive setting for your wedding weekend. From intimate elopements to celebrations of up to 200 guests, Madeira is designed to be flexible and personal. Having your closest friends and family staying on-site creates a relaxed feel, where the celebration unfolds naturally across the whole weekend.

A collection of indoor and outdoor spaces woven throughout the estate allows your day to flow naturally from one setting to the next, from garden ceremonies and woodland vows to tented celebrations and intimate indoor gatherings.

Our bespoke approach means no two weddings are the same. Whether you’re planning a relaxed boho celebration, a festival-style weekend, or something more classic, Madeira shapes itself around your style and budget. You’ll be supported by a dedicated planner throughout, whether you prefer a hands-on, DIY approach or a fully managed experience.

A stay at Madeira is part of the experience. Our romantic tree houses, with king-size mezzanine beds and private hot tubs, offer a secluded retreat and our Bridal Tree House bundle is thoughtfully prepared, including treats, champagne and flowers. It's the perfect space to relax, get ready, and unwind.

Madeira is perfectly placed to enjoy everything the East Neuk has to offer, from coastal walks, wild swimming and beach saunas, to golfing, charming fishing villages, great food and local pubs. Whether you choose to explore or simply settle in at Madeira, there’s plenty to enjoy beyond the estate. This also makes Madeira an ideal setting for hen and stag weekends.

Weddings 'packages' aren't really our thing. We want to tailor your special day just for you. That might mean we do everything for you, utilising our trusted local suppliers to provide top-notch catering, photography, floristry, fully licensed bar, taxi service and entertainment. Equally, Madeira can be your blank canvas to bring your own suppliers and ideas. From welcome dinners, grazing breakfasts and post-wedding brunches to accommodation, styling and on-the-day coordination, there are so many options and we are with you every step of the way to ensure your wedding is exactly how you want it.

We’re even better in person! Get in touch to arrange a viewing.

Hello and many congratulations! Please do get in touch if you think Madeira could be the venue for you. I always find it best to chat through your thoughts and ideas, and to meet you and get to know you if possible. And you me too, of course. Then you can make your minds up with confidence. I love Madeira, I fell in love with it the moment I first came up the long drive. It was so calm, so serene. I always wanted to hold weddings here and in the past few years that has become reality.

Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?

That's difficult to say but I'm going to cheat and give you two! We held a Festival Wedding for 130 from all over the UK, many were in the drinks and creative business. We had a cocktail bar, real ale bar, wine bar and street food. Everyone had such a good time. Rachael and Liam used the entire estate over three days. They got married on Friday in the Garden, had nibbles and fizz before going off site for a party in the nearby distillery/bar/venue. They then had their big celebration on Saturday before wild swimming and brunch on Sunday. Such fun and great music.

In contrast we had Neil and Simon's intimate wedding, just 12 people at the ceremony. They were married in the garden, had a chef made lunch in The Bothy, and a party for 35 in the evening. They made their wedding even more special by inviting their family and close friends to stay at Madeira for the week and enjoy their holiday together.

What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Let the venue organiser do as much as they can on the day to support you. Friends and family are a great help but the venue can do so much and take away any stress, so that you can just enjoy your day.

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

It was a weird one, and the chef wasn't a fan, but one couple presented each person with their favourite dish at the wedding lunch....such a mishmash but very charming!

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?

There are so many photo opportunities. Must be either under the huge copper beach tree, next to the wild flower arch, on a tree swing or on a Tree House deck under the canopy of trees.

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?

We get a lot of pro golfers, The Hairy Bikers spent a week here cooking in our kitchen (see Fife edition), we had Jimmy Johnstone's nephew here but I'm not sure that counts :)

What’s your favourite canapé?

Definitely Asian, probably with prawns, spice and lettuce. Loads of great seafood in the East Neuk of course.

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

Crepes. I had them at my wedding with a cheese board and they went down brilliantly. Also artisan scotch pies on a napkin with sauce ... yum. Great as a late snack at a wedding because they are tasty and don't break the bank.

What is your venue's most unique feature?

Our ethos...we don't do packages and try to make every wedding unique. Of course they all are because every couple is unique but we don't do 'cookie cutter'. Also, the ability to hire the entire estate and create a truly immersive, multi-day wedding experience. With on-site accommodation, varied indoor and outdoor spaces, and complete flexibility, you can shape your wedding just for you.

What part of your business are you most proud of?

The feeling of calm and connection the estate creates. Surrounded by woodland and gardens, Madeira has a natural serenity that allows couples and their guests to slow down and fully switch off. It really is an escape.

What part of your business are you most proud of?

Kate and Chris who are brilliant at loads of things help make an event at Madeira fizz. They are responsible for the gardens but more than that Chris is an artist and Kate was in fashion so they love the aesthetic. Madeira is the backdrop but what happens with flowers (Kate does wild flower arrangements and the arch), tables, chairs, picnic baskets, clothes, style etc etc makes the event unique. I am proud of my tiny but massively willing and talented team.
