Fir Hill Estate

The Fir Hill Estate, which comprises 66 acres of woodland, orchards and recreational land, was a ruined Estate until its change of ownership in 2012. Since this time, it has developed into a popular glampsite and event venue (as well as nascent fruit business …over 500 apple trees have been planted). The site lends itself to rural/outdoor weddings, and its most popular event is a wedfest (wedding festival) which requires a 3 day hire (1 day to set up, 1 day to party, and 1 day to clear up). Whilst most couples prefer to get legally hitched in advance (at, for example, a registry office), there is a delightful option to get married at Colan church, which is located about 600m from the Fir Hill’s event facilities). We also provide accommodation to over 70 guests in 13 yurts (Mongolian gers) and 4 bell tents. Beyond these Glamping units, we also allow ‘pitch ups’ i.e. guests can pitch their own tents / camper vans onsite for a small fee (once the yurts and bell tents are used). We provide a recommended list of wedding providers…mobile bars, pizza vans, burger bars, paella bars etc…and increasingly great bands to entertain your guests. We allow couples to decorate the site themselves…with bunting etc….(we also have accumulated a good supply which we provide to the couple). Seating and outdoor furniture is provided. The Fir Hill has created a woodland setting (referred to as the “Pit” for the more formal part of the proceedings in the form of small ‘amphitheatre’ which can seat just over 100 guests. The celebration area overlooks the Porth Reservoir which provides a wonderful backdrop to the event.
