Fernside sits in 11 acres of private Cheshire countryside in the village of Pickmere, just 15 minutes from Knutsford. Once a family home, it has manicured gardens, a private lake with a fountain, and sweeping views across open fields. On your wedding day the whole site is exclusively yours, so it feels relaxed, personal and completely private.
Five ceremony spaces
With five ceremony spaces to choose from, there's a setting for every couple. Outdoors, our decking is perfect for intimate ceremonies, while our secret garden offers a magical setting for larger celebrations. Inside the house, two beautiful ceremony spaces are ideal for weddings of up to 50 guests. For marquee weddings, you can also say "I do" inside the marquee itself.
Celebrations your way
For intimate weddings, celebrate in the house and grounds with up to 50 day and 80 evening guests. If your guest list is larger, we'll bring in our luxury sailcloth marquee, created with The Cheshire Tent Company, which welcomes up to 130 day and 180 evening guests. The marquee is an additional cost, but we'll include it in your quote so you know exactly where you stand from the start.
It comes complete with festoon lighting, matted flooring and pathways, Italian crossback chairs, a stage area, a dance floor and luxury trailer toilets. A fully staffed bar is included, and you can choose from our approved caterers, offering everything from fine dining to relaxed BBQs, Asian specialities and evening food trucks.
Stay the whole weekend
With 8 luxury en-suite bedrooms sleeping up to 21, your closest family and friends can stay with you. You'll have our brand-new bridal suite, plus early access to the bridal and groom's suites for getting ready. Guests can unwind in the hot tub, cinema room, gym or around the fire pit, so the celebrations carry on long after the last dance.
Support every step of the way
Your venue manager will look after you from the day you book until the end of your wedding, and our wedding coordinators will support you for six weeks beforehand and throughout your day.

- Capacity: Host up to 200 guests comfortably for your celebration.
- Ceremonies: Fernside House is licensed for civil ceremonies, so you can hold your entire wedding day in one beautiful location. Choose from five indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces to suit your style.
- Catering: Choose from six wonderful approved caterers, each specialising in different cuisines, and food trucks are welcome too. Please note that food isn't included in your package, so contact our caterers directly to view their menus.
- Entertainment: The choice of entertainment is entirely yours. Outdoor fireworks aren't permitted, but sparklers are welcome.
- Suppliers: You're free to choose your own suppliers, from décor and flowers to your photographer and more, to make your wedding truly unique.
- Pets: Pets are welcome, so your four-legged friends can be part of your special day too.

We used all 6 bedrooms, and it was great having the children’s bedroom with the extra beds in too. I cooked a full Christmas dinner for 14 people, and the kitchen is my actual dream. Why have one oven when you can have 3? The bar is also brilliant for entertaining if you’re having guests over like we did on Boxing Day. Roy the caretaker was invaluable, he lives on the grounds and is so prompt in his WhatsApp responses which Spent Christmas week here with my family and it was absolutely magical. The house, the grounds everything is amazing! Very clean! Roy the owner is only next door, lovely man and very helpful, but also just leaves you to enjoy your stay! The tech is the house is next level, the space! There really isn’t anything negative to say about our stay!Our friends and family booked this beautiful house as a surprise for our Hen Do, we aren’t very often speechless, but wow! What is the maximum guest capacity at Fernside House for weddings?
Fernside is flexible enough for both intimate and larger weddings. Smaller celebrations can be held in the house and grounds for up to 50 day guests and 80 evening guests. For bigger celebrations, we bring in our luxury sailcloth marquee, which welcomes up to 130 day guests and 180 evening guests. The marquee is an additional cost, but we include it in your quote from the start. Up to 21 of your guests can also stay overnight in our 8 luxury en-suite bedrooms.
Is Fernside House licensed to hold civil wedding ceremonies?
Yes! Fernside House is fully licensed for civil ceremonies, so you can hold your whole wedding day in one beautiful location. Choose from five ceremony spaces: the decking for intimate ceremonies, the secret garden for larger celebrations, two indoor spaces in the house for up to 50 guests, and the marquee itself. Your registrar is booked through Cheshire East's Your Ceremony service.
Can I have both indoor and outdoor spaces for my wedding at Fernside House?
Absolutely! We love to get you and your guests outside as much as possible so you can make the most of our beautiful countryside setting. We have two outdoor ceremony spaces: the decking for intimate ceremonies and the secret garden for larger celebrations. The decking is also a firm favourite for welcome drinks and cocktail hours overlooking the lake. After that, head inside the house or marquee for your wedding breakfast and evening celebrations. And if the British weather has other plans, our indoor ceremony spaces in the house and marquee mean you're always covered.
Does Fernside House provide on-site accommodation for wedding guests?
Yes! Fernside has 8 luxury en-suite bedrooms sleeping up to 21 guests, across the main house and our barn apartments. The house has 6 en-suite bedrooms, including our brand-new luxury bridal suite, and sleeps 13–15. The barns add 2 en-suite apartments for extra guests.
✨ Book with us through Bridebook and your accommodation in the house is completely free! The two barn apartments are then available as optional extras.
Your guests can unwind in the hot tub, cinema room or around the fire pit, making it the perfect way to stretch your celebrations across the whole weekend.
Is the use of outdoor fireworks allowed at Fernside House weddings?
Outdoor fireworks aren't permitted at Fernside, but sparklers are very welcome! A sparkler send-off or a sparkler moment by the lake makes a magical end to your evening and creates beautiful photos to treasure.
Can we bring our own caterers to Fernside House for our wedding?
We work with six wonderful approved caterers, each specialising in different cuisines, from traditional three-course dining and relaxed BBQs to Asian specialities and sharing platters. Food trucks are also welcome for the evening! Catering isn't included in your package, so you can contact our caterers directly to view their menus and find the perfect fit for your day.
Do I get exclusive use of the venue when I book Fernside House for my wedding?
Yes! When you book your wedding at Fernside, you have exclusive use of the house and grounds, so the whole venue is yours for your celebration. With our 11 acres of private gardens, the lake and the house to yourselves, you and your guests can relax and enjoy your day in complete privacy, without sharing the space with anyone else.
Upgrade to a weekend stay and the house and grounds are all yours for the whole weekend. You'll also have access to the hot tub, BBQ area, gym and cinema room, the perfect way to celebrate before and after the big day!
Is there a wedding coordinator available to assist with planning the event?
Yes! You'll have the support of our venue manager from the moment you book right up until the end of your wedding. Our wedding coordinators, Florence & Vera, will also give you full support for six weeks before your big day and be on site on the day itself, so you can relax and soak up every moment while they take care of the details.
Where is Fernside House located and how accessible is it for guests?
Fernside is on Frog Lane in the picturesque village of Pickmere, Cheshire, just a 15-minute drive from Knutsford town centre. Despite its peaceful countryside setting, it's easy to reach, with good links to the M6 and M56 for guests travelling from further afield. Guests can park in our private paddock. Pickmere Lake and a cosy countryside pub are both just a short walk away.
