Nestling in the beautiful Devon countryside, Thorn House & Gardens offers the idyllic backdrop for a fairytale wedding reception. A delightful drinks reception, spectacular photographic opportunities, perhaps a jazz band or string quartet playing, and a completely relaxed setting is an ideal start to the celebrations. The lawns provide the perfect site for marquees, giving guests quite exceptional panoramic views of the countryside and estuary. Weddings at Thorn run throughout the year and the venue (Orangery and Garden) is exclusively yours for the event. Although this venue is not licensed to hold civil wedding ceremonies, we can hold a blessing for you or alternatively we can recommend many beautiful local churches, including the idyllic church at Wembury; situated overlooking the beach. Whether you are looking for a small and intimate reception, or a large and lavish day, Thorn offers the most spectacular location with breathtaking views over the River Yealm. The orangery overlooking the main lawn is the perfect place for a spot of afternoon mingling whilst drinking elderflower bubbly and munching on canapés. For larger (30 -130 people) weddings at Thorn we provide a traditional canvas marquee with natural hessian coconut matting and a beautiful wooden dance floor. Together with your flowers, this can be fitted with pendant and fairy lights to create a warm soft glow. Thorn is a truly exclusive location and we limit our larger weddings to six per year. We are very passionate about giving couples as much flexibility as they can when it comes to their day and our wedding co-ordinator is on-hand throughout from your private viewing to the big day to offer as much advice and assistance as you should need.
