Full Description
The Dorchester is London’s most elegant address for weddings and social events. With ten stunning event spaces accommodating every kind of celebration, from marriage ceremonies to fun-filled birthday parties, The Dorchester is the perfect choice for a luxurious day. An experienced team of event designers, florists and our Executive Chef and Sommelier ensure your event is just as you imagined, and our attentive yet unobtrusive staff provide flawless service. The Dorchester reopened the art deco ballroom suite in September 2011 following a restoration by Alex Kravetz Designs Ltd intended to recapture the opulence of Oliver Ford's original 1930s design. With its own private Park Lane entrance, the space is internationally recognized for its impeccably elegant and understated style, and over 10,000 square foot can accommodate 500 for dinner and 1,000 for cocktails. Executive Chef Henry Brosi extends a three-course à la carte menu offering in The Ballroom, a service rarely included in such large functions due to the high skill involved in grand scale production. The 2011 restoration included the Park Lane entrance, Crush Hall, The Silver Room and The Gold Room, all now returned to their former glory with additional technology and lighting to ensure greater value for clients. Three large crystal chandeliers were returned to iconic ceiling domes inspired by the 1930s originals, enhancing the play of light across antique mirror wall paneling. Original 13-foot high pillars made from a blue semi-precious stone (sodalite) provide overall color, enhanced by new hand-made Champagne-toned carpet and custom-made Venetian drapery. Other venues in the Dorchester Collection include Coworth Park and 45 Park Lane.
