Amazing ❤️
We got married at the beautiful Tall Johns House, after relocating from another venue. After our previous negative experiences we were apprehensive, but we couldnt have had a better experience than with Liza and Archie at Tall Johns. Liza was efficient, reliable and supportive from the word go and Archie was a total pleasure on all the face to face meetings and on the big day, no request was too big or small. Archie even took the trouble to step away from the bar if he noticed my partner or I were without a drink, to bring us one. The accomodation was beautifully furnished, clean and extremely comfortable and the breakfasts were amazing. We even chose to stay an additional day after the wedding just to enjoy our surroundings and just to make our wedding last a little longer, as we didn't want it to end. We could not be happier with our wedding weekend and want to do it all over again. If you're considering getting married there or even just staying, we would thoroughly recommend. Thank you so much Archie and Liza for the best experience!! X

Tall John provided the perfect venue for our special day in the most glorious surroundings. Everyone was so helpful and worked so hard behind the scenes to ensure all went smoothly, which it did.

A fabulous weekend at Tall John’s House in September 2023
Even though it was our daughter’s wedding and I’m totally biased I thought it the best, happiest and most relaxed wedding I’ve ever attended, and a lot of that must go down to the venue and the staff/suppliers who helped it go so smoothly, so a big thank you from the bride’s parents to all at Tall John’s House for making it such a successful and happy occasion. It was the first time I’ve attended a weekend event like this and what a pleasurable one it was. From the moment we arrived on the Friday we immediately felt at home in our room in the Manor House with its stunning views across the grounds to the surrounding wooded valley and Black Mountains beyond. With plenty of room to move around, our room was comfortable and warm with the added luxury of a bath (and shower) in the ensuite for relaxing between all the action. The ‘ice-breaker’ evening buffet meal in the dining room for families and bridal party settled us all in, breaking off to circulate and socialise with drinks in the elegant reception rooms adjoining. From the Saturday morning delicious cooked full breakfast - I was a bit concerned at the prospect of a whole weekend with only vegan food – the day just got better. With all the hustle and bustle of hair and make-up going on around I escaped to wander the grounds and walled garden to get some photos of this idyllic oasis, relaxing before dressing for the main event. The barn was beautifully dressed for the occasion and the perfect setting for a really emotional exchange of vows and rings. Afterwards we enjoyed our drinks and canapes in the courtyard while the barn was rearranged for our delicious vegan wedding reception and speeches were easily heard without the need for microphones which helped keep things informal. Reception over, we were able to slip off for a rest while the barn was transformed for the evening music and dancing, with the bar at the far end. When I wasn’t bopping to Queen or ‘I’m Just Ken’ (yes, they dragged me out for that) I was able to enjoy a quick game of snooker with the bride in the Granary (I lost) or drinks with fellow guests in quieter areas. This was a truly memorable and emotional occasion, capped off with another delicious cooked breakfast on Sunday morning where we were able to savour our time together before heading home. Throughout this fabulous weekend we were aware of the staff in the background, suddenly appearing when needed for something. They were so friendly and welcoming, providing a perfect venue for our daughter and son-in-law to celebrate their wedding.

Wedding of our dreams ✨
Mike and I had our wedding at Tall John’s House in December 2022. And we honestly couldn’t have picked such a perfect venue. From the moment we viewed Tall John’s, we completely fell in love with the place- the house, barns and grounds are beautiful, and it was exactly the kind of ‘blank canvas’ wedding venue we were searching for. Even better-it’s dog friendly, so our little pooch could be included in our day too :). The whole planning process was a dream- Liza was so helpful and relaxed throughout. The place was so flexible with your plans, and the whole experience was stress free. Even with some last minute changes that were out of our control, Tall John’s staff were understanding and reassuring, and everything went so smoothly. Archie was great and very attentive throughout, and was there during the day for us and our guests if we needed anything, which was a great help too! The fact that the place is exclusive for the weekend of your wedding made it such a personal and relaxed place to be. We could make the weekend exactly how we wanted it to be! Ken cooked a lovely meal for us and the immediate wedding party the night before the wedding, and nothing was too much trouble! It was a lovely way to spend the night before the big day once we had finished decorating, and we really enjoyed ourselves. We got married in the main barn, and had our drinks reception in the Granary, with the reception then back in the main barn, as it was during the Winter. The main barn was so beautiful, and looked even better than I ever could have dreamed of! Everyone loved the Granary too- and were loving the secret room with the pool table! We had some lovely photos and videos in the grounds too. We used the Dr’s Orders bar for the evening, which Archie and Sophie provide. They were so lovely to plan with, and they were fab on the night- everyone commented on how friendly they were, with a great selection of (very reasonably priced!) drinks. The cottages were spotless and such a lovely place to stay. Our guests stayed in the cottages, stables and Manor House-many said to us afterwards the the beds were the comfiest they had ever slept in, and were full of praise for the breakfast the next morning, which was a lovely way to end the weekend. Our only regret is that we didn’t book another night to relax for the day after the wedding. I honestly couldn’t recommend this place enough. My husband and I, as well as all of our guests had the most fantastic weekend, and are so grateful to Liza and all the team for truly making this the best weekend ever!
Response from the venue

Amazing wedding venue!
My partner and I got married at Tall Johns in December 2021 with around 80 guests. It was absolutely perfect!! The venue is really flexible and the grounds and scenery and wonderful. There are so many good photo opportunities even in December! The main barn is breathtaking and was the perfect space for our drinks reception, meal and dance floor! We had our ceremony in the granary which is such an intimate and lovely space. Archie, Liza, Sophie, Liz and the team are all great and they really allow you to be totally flexible. They have a great network of suppliers from catering to table and lighting hire which made the ‘blank canvas’ aspect really manageable but allowed us to completely tailor our day. We had the whole site for the whole weekend which felt so private and intimate - we arranged for the team to put on a meal for the onsite guests on the Friday which was such a lovely way to start the weekend. This venue would be great for a small wedding where all guests could stay on site all weekend, to a large wedding making the most of all the outside space! The options really are endless. Big thank you again to all the team! (Photo is by Francesca Hill Wedding Photography - would also highly recommend!)

We finally got the wedding of our dreams!
We were unfortunately due to get married in June 2020, but that got cancelled due to covid, we then had 2 other dates cancelled following that. Liza was super helpful throughly from supporting our hard decisions to postpone and find new dates! Our final date was in December, which to start off I was a bit dubious about as I’d fallen in love with Tall Johns grounds. But it was perfect! We still had our ceremony outside (we were cosy inside the door way) we had some great photos in the grounds and then all went back into the barn to warm up with a mulled wine! It was so beautiful, the barn was so warm with its underfloor heating. We chose the venue not just because of its beautiful grounds, but we loved the flexibility of it, and choosing all the different elements to make it suit us. We wanted the wedding to feel like a celebration and break away from some of the standard wedding traditions, which Tall Johns as well as Laura Beth events helped us to create. As part of the celebration side of things we wanted to accommodate as much friends and family as possible, and make it feel like a weekend away for everyone. Tall Johns has so many beautiful rooms that suit everyone and all family types! Can’t recommend Tall Johns enough. There is not one element of our wedding that we would change if we were to do it all again! Perfect!
