Sutton Bonington Hall is a rare gem of a venue that is hard to come by. It is grand but not imposing, elegant without being stuffy, with the most beautiful private grounds I have ever seen, in an intimate setting that makes you feel like you’ve come home. What sets this beautiful private venue apart from the rest is the owner, Claire. We queried dozens and dozens of wedding venues - five star hotels, national trust properties, castles and manor houses - and yet nothing came close to Claire in terms of her commitment to making this a happy day for the bridal couple. Sutton Bonington is a private residence, and Claire made us feel like we were part of the family. It never felt corporate or impersonal, and yet Claire was incredibly efficient and knowledgable about the wedding industry, advising us on exactly what to do, giving us thoughtful feedback on our plans, and to top it off had the fastest response times I have ever seen! Claire would go out of her way just to make sure we were on track and for that we are so grateful. You really want to be able to trust the vendors you have selected for your wedding, and I truly can’t think of a better team to have by your side when you’re planning this special day. If I could give 10 stars, I would!

I would be delighted to write a positive review about Sutton Bonington Hall, a beautiful wedding venue that was expertly planned by Jel. From the moment we arrived at Sutton Bonington Hall, we were impressed by the stunning setting. The Hall is a grand, historic building that has been lovingly restored and maintained, and it exudes an air of elegance and sophistication. The grounds are equally impressive, with well-manicured lawns and gardens that provide the perfect backdrop for a wedding ceremony and reception. Jel, our wedding planner, was an absolute delight to work with. She was friendly, professional, and incredibly organized, and she went out of her way to make sure that every aspect of our wedding was perfect. From the initial planning stages to the day of the wedding, Jel was always available to answer our questions and provide guidance and support. The staff at Sutton Bonington Hall were equally wonderful. They were friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure that our guests were comfortable and happy throughout the day. The food was delicious, and the service was impeccable. Overall, we cannot recommend Sutton Bonington Hall and Jel highly enough. We had the most incredible wedding at Sutton Bonington Hall, and cannot recommend it highly enough as a venue. We were looking for somewhere that would cater for 100 guests, but would still feel cosy and intimate. Sutton Bonington was perfect in this respect, as it’s first and foremost a family home. The house and gardens are beautiful, and there are several different rooms and spaces which meant that our guests could spread out during the afternoon and evening. We were particularly keen to have somewhere quieter for our more introverted guests to retreat, and the library was perfect for this. Claire, the owner, was so helpful from the very first meeting and knows the house and gardens well, so she was able to give great recommendations for how to structure our day. She was also extremely patient and answered all our many questions! Portfolio Events are the preferred suppliers for catering and they also act as event managers as well. Again, we cannot recommend them highly enough. The food was absolutely delicious, lots of people said how good it was, including our guests with special dietary requirements. They were really flexible and enabled us to tailor the food and drinks menus to suit us. Charlotte met with us in advance and helped us plan the day in terms of food and timings etc. and helped us make sure the day went as smoothly as possible and we didn't have to worry about anything on the day. She was really organised and took such detailed notes of what we wanted, and helped us make it really personal and unique to us. We were able to set up the afternoon before, which meant we didn't have to worry about anything on the day of the wedding. On the day, Jel and the team were fantastic! All our guests said how helpful and friendly the staff were, and the team made Tom and I feel so special. They brought us drinks especially and made sure we got food throughout the day (it's easy to miss out on such a whirlwind of a day!) There were also a couple of things that didn't go to plan (due to me feeling unwell!), but Jel and the team were incredibly flexible and worked with our bridal party to adapt to the situation and made me feel so supported. It was wonderful to know that we were in such experienced and capable hands, and we didn't have to worry on the day at all. In terms of entertainment we were able to have garden games during the afternoon, and a Silent Disco in the evening. We also had a Photo Booth in the main entrance hall. It was really special to be able to stay in the bridal suite on the evening of the wedding - and lovely to be able to just head upstairs after our guests were gone. On the morning after, Claire had kindly set up breakfast for Tom and I in the Library - which was such a lovely touch and a great way to end an amazing experience. We wish we could do it all over again! We knew as soon as we visited Sutton Bonington Hall it was the right place for our wedding. We wanted a small wedding ceremony in the day with 30 guests and up to 100 for the party at night and it was absolutely perfect for this! There is a very comforting and welcoming atmosphere at the hall. Claire is lovely and really made sure our day was special for us and Jel from Portfolio Events was absolutely amazing in liaising with us in the build up to the day and on the day she went above and beyond for us. She made sure everything was perfect and is so happy and friendly. She even helped with our one year old! Thank you to both Claire and Jel for making sure we had the most perfect day. Our guests absolutely loved the venue. The wedding breakfast in the library the next morning was so special as well. Thank you Claire.

Thank you so so much for all your hard work in the lead up to our wedding and on the day itself. It was truly the most amazing day. It was just incredible. Charlotte thank you for working with us over the last months to pull everything together. The food was fabulous and Ryan (Greg’s friend) commented that he felt so included in having good food with no fuss about the dietaries! So I just wanted to pass on that he had said thank you so much. The organisation of the day was impeccable and Jel thank you for being so lovely at keeping us on time even when we were flying around trying to talk to everybody. I can’t thank you all enough.

The perfect wedding venue, from the moment we first visited the Hall we knew we wanted to have our big day here. The building and gardens hold so much character, truly a unique venue for an intimate wedding. We can't speak highly enough of Claire the owner and the catering company Portfolio Events who made our wedding as stress-free and enjoyable as possible!

I would recommend this venue to anyone. We held my Daughters wedding reception here and the owners and staff couldn't have been more caring to ensure the day went off superbly despite the semi relaxed covid restrictions. The catering staff were attentive and the food delicious and the venue itself is beautiful.

A fantastic wedding experience throughout, ably supported by the owners Claire and Edward and their friendly, helpful staff. The hall is a beautiful period building and is full of architectural character and benefits greatly from being a family home rather than a corporate venue. The grounds are spacious and very pretty. We had a relatively high number of younger children at the wedding and they enjoyed exploring inside, happily pottering around in the four reception rooms (including orangery). When the weather permitted the grounds were ideal for them to let off some steam. Our family travelled from abroad so we booked the venue from Friday to Sunday (for a Saturday wedding) and the rooms were nice with each having a unique feel. The hosts put on an excellent breakfast for us on both Saturday and Sunday. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for an intimate wedding!
