Everyone dreams of the perfect wedding, Prestwold promised the perfect wedding and I worked closely with one coordinator who claimed to love all my finely detailed plans and had organised for the venue to provide certain things on the day. Everything was going smoothly until a week or so prior to the day where they informed me that they had actually double booked events on our wedding day and that a different coordinator would actually be looking after us. We were promised that the other event wouldn’t have any impact on the day but that was far from true. Unfortunately, the other event and the wedding party from the previous day which hadn’t cleared themselves or their decorations out from the venue by the agreed in contract time meant that the venue wasn’t decorated with our decorations on the day, the groomsmen were left trying to find staff to find out what was going on (after initially being told on arrival that they couldn’t there there because there was an event on to which my husband had to inform staff that he was there for his wedding) and our ceremony was extremely delayed, putting a delay on all other plans for the day. After much insistence post ceremony, some of our decorations were put out but most were left in boxes and carrier bags dotted around the venue which our family then moved back into our cars to avoid embarrassment. During the drinks reception, a waiter dropped an entire tray of drinks as they were being carried out, my dad then followed them back inside to make sure they were okay and to offer to help to carry the fresh tray back out to which he was told our allocation had been reached…I hope the floor enjoyed our drinks as many guests were left thirsty. We had previously agreed with the venue that during the wedding breakfast, we would be allowed to have another alcoholic beverage instead of wine as the majority of guests didn’t like wine but wanted an alcoholic beverage with their meal, as this was not written down on our plan by the wedding coordinator (which we assumed it had been) they couldn’t take our word for it against hers. Soft drinks were also not provided to the people on the soft drinks package until my parents had to complain to our on the day coordinator who did check the plans and confirmed that they should have been provided and directed the waiters to do so. Come the evening, I had requested that the evening food be set out in a table for people to help themselves, instead, waiters with trays walked around with the food and after my husband and I asked them all to set them down so guests could help themselves when they were hungry they just shrugged and carried on. Half an hour after the food came out I went to find someone to get some food for myself as I had finally done greeting my guests and was desperate for something to eat, to be told that the allocation had gone, considering we ordered enough sausage and bacon baps for 93 people and there was at most there was 80 people there, most of which also told me they were yet to eat, I found this hard to believe. At the end of the night, my husband, our best man and myself did a quick sweep of the downstairs before going to bed, in this time two of our guests had gone from waiting outside for their taxi to going to use bathroom, to the front door being locked and then being trapped in after falling asleep on the sofas outside the toilets. When they awoke at 2am and tried to leave it set the house alarms off, awaking all our guests, scaring us and despite our shouts to the staff we could hear downstairs, no one came to reassure us, meaning none of us got a decent rest.
Other niggles to note are virtually all the toiletries provided in the bathrooms were half used or dirty…we ended up binning these, the dining room was not set up as we had asked and as soon as the reception began our decorations started to get packed away, a kick in the teeth considering the previous wedding days decorations were all left until late the following morning, impacting on our day.
I have no doubt that they would be able to provide the perfect day for some people but their attention was very clearly elsewhere for ours and based on our experience alone, I wouldn’t recommend them.
Please note, we also expressed these concerns on the day and were told someone would speak to us after the wedding and to enjoy the moment…so far the only person to speak to us has been the person who runs their social media accounts and that was after I had to complain about them using my child’s picture to advertise without my consent.
