Whether it’s the idyllic scenery or the quintessentially English setting, it’s clear why the South Downs National Park is a favourite location for wedding couples.
A venue that continues to attract brides and grooms year on year is Southdowns Manor, a historical venue located just a few miles from Trotton, near Midhurst.
This spectacular property was originally built in the late 19th century as a two-storey house by the Honourable John Jervis Carnegie. And while the manor has undergone many upgrades, it has carefully preserved its historical charm with elegant furnishings, open fireplaces and sweeping bay windows.
Licensed for civil ceremonies, the manor offers a choice of locations for couples to exchange their vows. The Grand Banqueting Suite is popular for ceremonies of up to 150 guests, while the elegant Sussex Room and the Conservatory are perfect for more intimate occasions. During the warmer months, the outdoor gazebo offers a romantic setting on the Southdowns Manor lawns.
The in-house chefs and wedding planning team work to the highest standards to provide decadent wedding breakfasts and evening entertainment. The manor also boasts 14 sumptuously furnished guest rooms, providing a luxe retreat following celebrations.
With a warm and welcoming feel and a bespoke approach to service, Southdowns Manor places itself as an exclusive ‘home from home’ - all enhanced by the beauty of the surrounding National Park.

WOW what a day we had!! It was absolutely incredible, everything we have ever dreamt of and more! The stunning venue, the delicious food, the perfect details, the friendly staff, the amazing efforts that you all put in is brilliant. We honestly had the best day of our lives! From first seeing the venue and booking it in 2019, we knew that Southdowns Manor was the dream venue for us and it certainly lived up to it’s expectations!

We cannot thank Lia enough for everything she did for us. She was always at the end of every email with all the answers, reassuring us right up to every detail on the day checking in that everything was okay. It certainly wouldn’t have run as smoothly without her. She is by far the best of the best and we are so grateful for everything she did to ensure our day was magical!!

Our wedding breakfast was beautiful
Me & Sam could not of asked for anything better, from our initial show round to the morning after our wedding was perfect. Lucy went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly and it sure did! Our wedding breakfast was beautiful, our confetti shot was amazing and the honey moon suite was everything we needed to end our night. All of the staff the day of our wedding were delightful and we can’t thank everyone enough.

The team at Southdowns made everything stress free
Everything about our wedding at Southdowns Manor was perfect. The team at Southdowns made everything stress free, from our initial meetings with Natalie, to our pre-planning with Lucy, to our final meetings with Lia who ran our day. The day ran so smoothly, and the venue was absolutely beautiful. The food was great, with all our guests' dietary requirements catered for. And the giant bath in the Honeymoon Suite was ideal after a long night of dancing! Thank you so much to Lia and the team for everything you did, and a special shout out to the lovely barman who looked after my drink for me when I had to run off to dance.
