Sheene Mill

We had our wedding here this year and while we had a perfect day, you will see from the huge list below what our issues were. Unfortunately Sheene Mill are yet to respond to my numerous emails wishing to discuss these disappointing issues. There are serious problems at Sheene Mill, with the wedding coordinators not even being able to stay due to the bad communication issues between themselves and the chef/staff. Not very happy with the level of service given after how much they hype themselves up, was expecting better. No gravy with roast dinner? and rock hard veg! Staff started packing away during our evening reception, 2hrs before it was due to end, clearing our drinks away and removing chairs while still in use. Staff said no when we asked for coffee/hot drinks at 11pm before it was meant to end as they already turned off the machines. Some of the £140 rooms had no power to plug sockets. One room was in a terrible state - a blanket for a curtain which was hanging off the wall (see photos) -paying £140 for one night in a room with a broken curtain rail and hanging blanket for a curtain! The bridal prep room was in a terrible state from the wedding the day before ours - dirty floor, sticky/dirty tables, overflowing bins! Our bridal suite had no bottled water and the bare minimum kettle and tea bags, some rooms had water, coffee machines and biscuits - isnt the bridal suite meant to be priority? Didnt leave the bridesmaids gifts where we asked and they lost them so my bridesmaids didnt get their gifts til i found them the next day. No staff around in the morning - no drinks available when desperate for a drink of water or orange juice and then when they did turn up they said we shouldve gone to the shop. Some of our artificial flowers were left outside in the rain over night so got badly damaged. Food for dj and mc wasnt given as arranged, staff told the dj and mc we hadnt organised food for them when we specifically arranged this in advance. One waitress was rude telling us we had to go inside, giving us a dirty look and snapping at us in a rude way. Massive let down and whats worse is not even an apology or response/acknowledgement after trying to inform them of our issues we are unhappy with! I have also seen many other reviews with similar issues and the venue not getting back to them/ignoring them!!

We only looked at one venue and knew from the moment we walked in this was our place! We had our wedding reception at Sheene Mill and I cannot put into words how perfect the venue, service and food was. It was everything we ever wanted and the team were just fabulous looking after everyone with big smiles and warming atmosphere. Our friends and family couldn’t stop complimenting the venue. We opted for a buffet as opposed to a sit down meal and the food was brilliant, everybody loved it.

We got so lucky with this venue, particularly with the weather being sunny all day! It has a wonderful laid back atmosphere that we wanted whilst I am pretty sure the staff are secretly running themselves ragged to ensure we have a fantastic day. The food was phenomenal and everyone commented on it. Helen and her team are very experienced and I would suggest just trust her, even when you are feeling very nervous and anxious around elements of organisation; she will guide you through. Beware of the little boat, someone will definitely try to take a ride in it!

We had the most amazing wedding day, everything was perfect and we will happily pass on pictures. We have had so many compliments about the venue and your team.

I can honestly say from the moment we arrived everything was absolutely perfect. The venue and the staff were amazing and really looked after everyone.

Any questions we had were always answered and this eased any anxieties we may of developed the closer we got. We cannot speak highly enough of you.!
