it was just the most beautiful setting
Had our wedding here on the 15th of October and it was just the most beautiful setting. The staff were amazing and Caroline went above and beyond to make our day run smoothly. So many of our guests commented on how stunning it was! Really was a great day helped so much by Roodlea barn.

Would definitely recommend.
We got married here last month and can't rate it highly enough. The venue is beautiful. Perfect for DIY weddings with enough of its own charm to go minimal on decor. We had booked another venue before being let down during covid. The other venue was literally an empty barn for pretty much the same price so to find roodlea which had tables, seating, lighting, sound system, bar and a few accessories like barrels thrown in was great. I also loved how there was different sections for guests to mingle and the curtains can be let out or drawn in to make the space feel more intimate. A lot of venues have set suppliers who they work with but it was great that roodlea don't. Nothing was off limits and it gave us the opportunity to really personalise our day. Above all though, I have to say Caroline went out her way to make sure everything ran smoothly the day of and the day before. She was really flexible with plans and last minute changes. She even stepped up to play the music for the ceremony and came to check on us before the ceremony and throughout the day. She liaised with the catering staff and rearranged seating plans the day before with a few cancellations. This was all above her remit of what was expected of her. All the staff behind the bar were great on the night and everyone commented on how reasonably priced it was for a wedding venue. The bridal suite is gorgeous and a nice touch to get ready in just before the ceremony. The house is also perfect to prolong your celebrations and not worry about transport in the morning and late at night you can just cross the garden into bed. Would definitely recommend.

Exceptional, would highly recommend.
I can't recommend Roodlea Barn enough if you are on the lookout for a beautiful blank canvas in Ayrshire for your wedding day. We got married in April but had to wait until we got our photography to show off how beautiful the space is! Special thanks to Caroline from Roodlea who helped coordinate our day - she went above and beyond to ensure we were stress-free and everything was running smoothly. Unfortunately we didn't get the weather for outdoors (ah, Scotland!), but there are stunning grounds and outdoor areas too if you are lucky enough to use them - as we were a smaller wedding, the barn area was still perfect for what we needed. We stayed at Roodlea House for two nights and it was a dream to get ready in the morning of the wedding - with complimentary fizz and breakfast hamper provided! Exceptional, would highly recommend.

FAQ
(10)

Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?

Oh this is a hard one as there has been so many amazing ones. However as we opened during the covid pandemic it meant our initial weddings were on a smaller scale with some restrictions, so for myself our first full wedding back in 2022 was a particularly special one. Seeing the barn finally used for what it was intended and being able to see friends and family unite again it definitely holds a space in my heart!

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

This might be a boring suggestion to some, but its definitely a logical one - make a spreadsheet for EVERYTHING! The best way to keep on top of suppliers and budget is to make a spreadsheet and make sure you include absolutely everything on it.

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

Being a DIY barn venue I get the pleasure of seeing a lot of personal touches and effort that couples put into the place which is amazing, even the smallest details such as homemade tablet for your favours make a difference. However, I had one particular wedding where the groom built a train track which sat on top of our beams and made its way round the room, with the stops on it being a memory of the bride and grooms travels which was quite amazing!

Describe your venue in 5 adjectives.

Romantic, Rustic, Unique, Versatile, Modern

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?

Our decking which looks out over our pond and our grounds, its also perfect place for getting your group pictures with all your guests!

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?

Unfortunately not yet, but fingers hoping some day soon!

What’s your favourite canapé?

Can't go wrong with some Haggis Bon Bon's or Tempura in my opinion - always people pleasers! I do also love salmon or caviar blinis with crème fraîche.

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

The best evening snack we have had in my opinion was simply grilled cheese & ham toasties on sourdough bread - they were delicious and just what everyone was looking for! We have also had a Taco food truck which done Mexican style snacks like nachos which also went down very well and their food van looked amazing too!

What is your venue's most unique feature?

Either our floor to ceiling window that overlooks the pond and grounds, or our grand double-sided fireplace which goes between the main hall and our bar and provides a warm cosy feel!

What part of your business are you most proud of?

We are a small family run business and we all work really hard to make it a happy, friendly environment for our staff. We often get comments on how welcoming, helpful and friendly our staff are and to know they love their job also makes everything run smoothly and we have fun doing it too! Therefore I would say the environment we have created is something I am really proud of!
