Absolutely beautiful venue!
So accommodating and with you every step of the way. Every detail was well thought out. The food is something else, how they made so many meals each cooked and presented so perfectly for so many people is beyond me. Every guest made comments on how magical the day was. Would highly recommend.

Stunning and the food deliciously perfect!
We got married here in September 2020 with the government guidelines - limited to 30 people, and Old Palace Chester staff were beyond incredible! The question of whether to proceed in these times was easily answered to be yes, largely because of them. We couldn't thank their calmness, warmth and professionalism enough. Shout out to Lex especially who is an absolute superstar. Every detail was taken into careful consideration and executed to choreographed perfection. Every step of the way, they went the extra mile. We've been to a lot of weddings for friends and family and never before experienced an occasion, where the guests complimented the team so much as our guests did. We feel beyond lucky to have chosen Old Palace and the team there. They are truly incredible. We want to go back and have a bigger party there again once the world is safe and we're allowed more guests! Thank you so much. Also, the venue is stunning and the food deliciously perfect. Thank you.

FAQ

Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?

Every wedding is so different, it is impossible to pick just one but our first wedding has a special place in our hearts. To see all the hard work that went in to getting the venue ready pay off, and seeing our first guests having such a good time will stick with us for a long time!

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Make sure you have someone else looking after everything on the actual day so that you can really enjoy the day.

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

In between lockdowns we did manage to host a number of more intimate weddings, and one couple had provided personalised bottles of posh hand sanitiser. I thought it was a great way to embrace the situation, rather than letting it get them down!

Describe your venue in 5 adjectives.

Grand. Exclusive. Luxurious. Elegant. Indulgent.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?

There are so many to choose from but The Palace Suite with its incredible ornate ceiling creates a stunning backdrop!

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?

Not yet!

What’s your favourite canapé?

Smoked duck breast crostini with pickled beetroot, although we love to see couples creating bespoke canapes with our amazing chefs as it can really add a personal touch to the service.

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

The home made truffles that are served with the coffee.

What is your venue's most unique feature?

Being situated right next to the river in Chester's city centre, whilst also being so hidden and private. And the ceiling in the Palace Suite (again!), you cannot get more unique than a hand sculpted 290 year old Italian style piece of art!

What part of your business are you most proud of?

We are most proud of the service that we provide from the moment of booking all the way through to the special day, and after too. The team love being part of someone’s wedding as everyone is always so joyous, and it is lovely to have some input in to making those days happen. It is such an emotive and personal day and to be a part of that is truly special, and we love going above and beyond to make every wedding amazing and unique.
