It’s lucky I am an organised person. If I’d left it to the hotel the wedding would have been a total disaster. We booked the venue with a lovely lady who we thought we could work with. Then, from the booking to the actual wedding, we had 5 ‘wedding planners’! Contracts were wrong. Promises were not kept. I was told breakfast would be brought to my room on the morning of the wedding. It never arrived and we were told ‘we don’t do room service’ 🤦♀️. So I went without. The ‘wedding planner’ turned up at 10am!! The wedding was at 12. I had people coming to the room asking me for things that she should have been doing. They had a wedding the day before but we were told months before our wedding that we could set up the night before! Since we could now not set up the way we wanted, I had to leave it to the hotel. The ceremony rooms needed vacuuming but no one would do it so our decorators did it or they could not set up the flowers in the ceremony room. To top it all they made a complete balls up of the seating plan!! Tables were in the wrong position and wrongly numbered. The wedding party were seated at the back of the room when they should have been next to us! I was heartbroken 😢. My daughter, son, brother and grand daughter were on the other side of the room. We had a sweetheart table for the two of us and we should have had three tables to the left, right and centre of us with the bridal party and family! They were all over the place! No one bothered to read the seating plan that I’d had engraved! I saw the wedding planner at midday when she came to get me from the room. I then saw her briefly at the reception when I told her the seating was all wrong. I didn’t see her again. The staff were miserable and not enough of them. They are clearly overworked.
During the run up to the wedding we could never get an answer from the hotel. The events extension was rarely answered. Probably because every few weeks they would leave. We did have a meeting with the events manager in the end and she offered us free food for the evening because the whole organisation had been “a sh&t show”! Her words. Then she left! It was a complete nightmare and I wish I’d followed my gut and moved to another venue when we had the chance!
The ceremony room and wedding breakfast room are ideally situated which we liked and why we chose the hotel. We have to say that the food was good. However, the organisation, the communication and most other things were a disaster.
I had arranged decorators, musicians, flowers, etc and they made the place look lovely. The weather was nice and sitting outside was great after the ceremony.
This hotel should concentrate on their golf weekends and forget the weddings unless they are prepared to pay for an experienced wedding planner. Rather than rope in any member of staff who may be available.
When we complained the hotel staff said they saw on my social media that I’d had the best day! Well we did have the best day surrounded by our friends and family in our wedding day. The photographer was great and captured some lovely photos. Everyone said they thought it was the best wedding they’d ever been too. This was nothing to do with the hotel but our own organisation of the day. I fill get incredibly upset when thinking of the seating plan and having to look at my daughters back whilst sat across the other side of the room! She was my only bridesmaid!
