Lickleyhead Castle is your sumptuous and picturesque Scottish country retreat. At the centre of Royal Deeside and nestled at the base of Mount Bennachie, we host hopelessly romantic micro-weddings and offer a multi-night stay for the extended bridal party, including their nearest and dearest. Both the ceremony and reception can be held here, but we have an upper limit of 30 people inside the castle.
The castle has been a closely guarded secret for the last five centuries, known only to a select and notable few. Its walls have held both royalty and Hollywood stars and the stories that can be told about this Grade A listed building are stranger and richer than any fiction. Notable recent inhabitants of the castle include Game of Thrones star, Rose Leslie, who lived at the castle as a child.
The current owners have extensively and sympathetically renovated the building over the past three years, giving each room a unique character that mirrors the different eras in which the castle has stood. There are 8 bedrooms in total, with one a family suite. We can therefore sleep up to sixteen people (plus children), meaning that the happy couple plus their closest family can stay in the building. The kitchen is large and well provisioned with cooking facilities both traditional and modern. The great hall, a large space, would be the best place for wedding ceremonies of between 12 and 30 people. For tiny weddings of between 2-12 people the couple could instead consider using our chapel. The dining room is beautiful and wood panelled, with room for up to 30 people.
As we are a small venue, we do not have an in house catering team and you are welcome to bring in an external catering company of your choice. If you wish we may also be able to arrange catering for you.
