Built by Glen Tanar's original founder in 1869, and originally the music room of Glen Tanar House, our unique Ballroom provides a spectacular space for every stage of your wedding. From its vaulted ceiling adorned with over 700 antlers, to its original oak floors, the Ballroom is airy, atmospheric and spacious. From dining to dancing, you and your guests will have exclusive use of this venue, experiencing Victorian grandeur the minute you cross the threshold. With space to seat up to 160 guests, the Ballroom boasts a roaring open fire, a beautiful grand piano and excellent acoustics, while the lawns outside are a pleasing space for drinks receptions and garden games during Spring and Summer weddings. Absolutely Perfect

We felt like the King & Queen!

Laura and I would like to thank you and all the staff at Glen Tanar Estate we had the most magical wedding in the Chapel and Ballroom. We were a little anxious of only having thirteen guests in the Ballroom but with your experience and expertise you set up the Ballroom absolutely perfectly. We were so thrilled when we saw the Ballroom set up. All our guests loved it! From the first time we visited Glen Tanar we fell in love with it. It is truly a magical place. And that love has grown. We could not have had such a relaxed and amazing free flowing day if it had not been for you and all your colleagues we truly felt like the King and Queen not just for our wedding day but from the first moment we set foot on Glen Tanar. All our guests were amazed at the standard of the cottages they were very high spec and very comfortable. Oh my, that's a tough one. This sounds cliché but every wedding at Glen Tanar is the 'best' wedding. I love working with couples to plan the wedding of their dreams. So many aspects of our ballroom can be tailored to fit your style, look or feel. That's my favourite part about this job. Working with you to plan your 'best' wedding.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Mood boarding! Find your style, look and feel first then I can help recommend the best suppliers that can fulfil your vision. Also checklists … I love a list!

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

Personalized polaroid pictures to each guest. Some of them were very funny as well.

What’s your favourite canapé?

Absolutely Haggis Bonbons with a whiskey cream dip. There is nothing better. Other than that I do love Venison Carpaccio... with Glen Tanar Venison of course!

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

Stovies are an absolute Scottish classic, and they always go down a treat in the Glen Tanar Ballroom. Also, Wark Farm Pies make delicious personal pies made with their secret hot water pastry recipe. Yum!

What is Glen Tanar Ballroom most unique feature?

It has to be the ballroom's vaulted ceiling with over 700 antlers. As a traditional Scottish sporting estate the ballroom's ceiling gives a nod to our estates rich heritage. The ballroom was once the music room for the original Glen Tanar House. It is actually the only remaining original section of the house today. Over the years I can only imagine all the grand celebrations the ballroom has held.

What part of your business are you most proud of?

At the end of the day the reason we do this is to bring love and joy to all of our couples. All of the feedback and praise means the world to us. I'm especially proud that we are continuing the ballrooms legacy as a grand Scottish entertaining venue and I cannot wait to hold so many more celebrations here.
