With years of experience we are confident to say that we are one of Yorkshire’s finest wedding venues. We even have the awards to prove it!
Hazlewood Castle is set within seventy-seven acres of tranquil park and woodland, enjoying an idyllic rural location with ease of access and equal distance between Leeds & York.
Our Castle has been sensitively restored and converted into a fabulous destination offering 32 luxury bedrooms, stunning grounds and an award winning restaurant, we offer an excellent service which makes every event a truly memorable occasion.
Your wedding day is very special to us and we at Hazlewood pride ourselves in attention to detail in every aspect, from the planning of your menus to the timings of your ceremony.
Our spectacular Great Hall can accommodate weddings for up to one hundred and twenty guests, or we can hold up to four-hundred guests in a Marquee within our grounds.
We have several elegant private rooms, a number of which are licensed for Civil Ceremonies and are one of the few venues in Yorkshire who are able to offer an outdoor ceremony in our stunning grounds.
Additionally, we’re proud to be able to offer our beautiful and historic St. Leonard’s Chapel, to complement your civil marriage with a blessing.
We have applied all our experience and developed a Woodland Wedding Venue that we believe will exceed the expectations of those looking for something nearer to nature and simply unique! With a fairy lit tipi, barbeque and pizza oven it really does promise you an inimitable wedding that you have never experienced before!

Cannot imagine a better place for our Wedding
From beginning to end we had the most amazing experience with Hazlewood Castle as our venue.
Kelly was our Co-ordinator and there really wasn't anything she couldn't do for us. She was so friendly, approachable and made us feel like we could chat to her at any time.
The venue was always a stand out location for us and we fell in love with it at first sight, any possible doubts we could have had were gone when we met the amazing staff. Every single staff member was so helpful and professional, we ended up booking a few nights in the hotel and treatments at the spa as we were always looking for a reason to come back!
On the day of the wedding Lis and Max were just outstanding, their commitment to making sure everything ran smoothly was noticed not just by us but by all our guests. There was never a moment where I had any concerns (this coming from someone who is not very good at handing over control!) as they were always there reassuring us and double checking every detail.
Every one of our guests was blown away by the food and the service, with many saying it was the best they had ever had at a wedding. While we had excess of 80 guests, everyone felt treated like an individual and as if their meal had been prepared for them especially. The bar staff worked tirelessly throughout the day and were always making sure everyone was catered for while maintaining effortless professionalism and a friendly smile throughout.
We were so pleased to see all our guests were as wowed by the venue as we were when we first saw it. As fans of the historical, it was a dream to get married in a castle. Our guests were all keen to explore and all who booked a room were very impressed.
Whilst I know that this venue runs many beautiful weddings through the year, we never once felt like just a number, or just another event to churn out. We were made to feel special and as if we were the only wedding in the world. I put this down entirely to the staff. The team at Hazlewood are held in our highest regards and have our endless gratitude for all the service the delivered on our every visit on the lead up to the wedding, and for giving us the most magical day of our lives. We truly cannot thank them all enough!

Melissa helped us plan our day and was a huge help throughout, answering all our questions and helping us plan every little detail. On the day, Adam made sure everything went smoothly. Our guests commented on how amazing the food was and how beautiful the venue was.

I can’t put into words how amazing our wedding at Hazlewood castle was on July 2nd. The setting is beautiful, the rooms were immaculate and had everything we needed, our guests all had a wonderful stay. Our wedding coordinators Kelly and Adam ensured our day went perfectly from start to finish. I would highly recommend this venue for weddings and big events.

The staff and castle made the day
The minute I saw Hazlewood I knew it was the one, and it just made the whole day feel so magical. There is so much space for you and your guests - a garden courtyard, a space in front of the castle with incredible views, a stunning ballroom, a side room perfect for a photobooth and casino tables, and a huge area of gardens and woodland, which was the perfect place to take our couple photos.
Even more importantly, the staff ere exceptional. Melissa liaised with us in the run up to the big day, and she was such a pro I had no concerns or stress at all. On the day Elizabeth and her team took care of us so wonderfully - even down to making sure I always had a drink in my hand! The food was exceptional, and all our guests commented on how wonderful the reception had been

Where do I start with our wedding day!
Thanks for Kelly our personal wedding planner our day was perfect! Nothing too big or small an ask and Kelly supported me in every aspect of wedding planning. The detail Kelly plans throughout the process really took the stress out of wedding planning and she was so helpful when booking further rooms for guests and in general making sure we had everything locked in with what we needed whether that was liasing with our suppliers to even helping me with her venue team set up the venue room! The team did absolutely everything for me! We had many meetings before our big day with Kelly where we were able to enjoy lunch in the bar of the castle while doing our planning which was fab! Kelly runs through your day itinerary in so much detail you don’t have to worry about a thing!
Lydia who looked after myself and Ben on the day was super on it with timings and just a pleasure to have join us as part of our day she was very organised and stuck to all timings perfect. Even when we slightly over run with our photography timings she managed to tweak around us and meant that no guests were left un entertained.
A short review doesn’t do this venue or team working there justice but I honestly would recommend highly without exceptions that this is a sensational venue however the staff and there customer experience qualities make it super special!
Oh and don’t forget how amazing the meal was! Absolutely gorgeous food from canapés to our main meals and Buffett everything was just delicious and all my guests commented on the food.

Location and history is fantastic
Family Wedding
A frequent visitor to York I always mention the sign when driving past, a family wedding gave us the opportunity to finally stay. Location and history is fantastic, and the wedding was nothing but a celebration, but also after a number of years apart a chance to finally see family and friends again in person. The staff were great, and helpful at every point, nothing was too much trouble. Great food, company and setting, what more could you ask for? The room was fine with somewhat odd proportions, with a bathroom around the same size as the main room, but that's just the nature of the place. Only one small gripe the bed was a tad hard and maybe look at replacing (Hazel), but this could not take away the fantastic time, many thanks.
