Description

A beautifully classic hotel set in the grandeur of a Grade II listed building, it provides calm in the heart of King's Cross. The boutique bedrooms offer a peaceful nights sleep complete with modern luxury furnishings and finishes, and touches of railway glamour from the Victorian heyday. Our 1st floor restaurant, RAILS Restaurant & Little Bar, offers an elegant and intimate setting to enjoy a menu of modern classic dishes with a touch of the Parisian. Adjoining to our restaurant is the Little Bar, The Carriage and Lounge area, a seamless extension of the sophisticated restaurant interiors and walls dressed in art. These spaces are a little more moody and intimate and, along with the restaurant, are available to hire to ensure the 1st floor is exclusively yours.

Lovely hotel
Lovely hotel with great amenities, restaurant, and great location. Even though the hotel is in the Northeast section of the city, being literally on top of a major transportation hub makes it a perfect spot to stay and easily see the city sites. Also, the area that is located in has a lot of new development and good restaurant selection.

This a true 5star hotel with impeccable service
This a true 5star hotel with impeccable service and room care. The staff is very helpful and personable, attending to your every request. The room are consistent with the estimable heritage of the hotel, but have been updated with current decorating, furnishings and appliances. The location in the ever developing Coal Drops Yards is invigorating and offers many diversions.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Don't skip on any detail! We want to know every thought and idea, that way we can create a day that you envision.

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

Gold roses with names engraved on the stem.

Describe Great Northern Hotel, London in 5 adjectives

Timeless, boutique, heritage, stylish and unpretentious.

Where’s the best photo spot at Great Northern Hotel, London?

Possibly where we feature the art installation 'Tying of Knots'. It is a unique piece of art that wraps around the walls of our ground to first floor stairs. Light pours in through the window, and it captures our powder blue iron-wrought banister that runs all the way up through the hotel, like the spine to our whole structure.

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at Great Northern Hotel, London?

Not yet...

What’s your favourite canapé?

From our menu, it would be our beef tartare with cured egg yolk or prawn tempura for savoury choice and for sweet, it would be either fig tartlet or apple crumble.

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

Our devilishly chocolate brownies from the Pantry. We have a Pantry on each floor, open all hours for all hotel guests to help themselves to a Teapigs tea, Nespresso coffee, fruit and baked treats.

What is Great Northern Hotel, London most unique feature?

Possibly the architecture of the building, designed by Victorian architect Lewis Cubitt in 1854. The Italianate facade, the curved structure, high ceilings and wide corridors are all hallmarks of the hotel's history and provide endless character. Or the art installation that wraps around the walls of the staircase from ground to 1st floor, aptly called 'A Tying of Knots' by artist Debbie Smyth. Both are a privilege to call our own and it is a joy to see historical design meet modern art.

What part of your business are you most proud of?

Our service. There is a sense of ownership and pride in delivering top-notch service where attention to detail and guest experience is paramount. It starts from the top down and is sown into the hotel of our culture.
