Our History, Your Future Wedding Day...
Set within 450 acres of rolling parkland and ancient woodland in the heart of Northumberland, Macdonald Linden Hall Golf & Country Club is a distinguished Georgian Grade II listed mansion offering a secluded countryside escape just 24 miles from Newcastle upon Tyne. Approached via a sweeping quarter-mile tree-lined driveway, the estate reveals itself as a secluded setting of calm and understated elegance.
Surrounded by manicured lawns and seasonal gardens, the grounds provide a naturally beautiful setting for outdoor ceremonies and drinks receptions, with ever-changing bursts of colour throughout the year. Inside, the Hall combines period grandeur with refined country house style, ornate fireplaces, sweeping staircases, grand stonework and a dramatic dome skylight creating an atmosphere of understated sophistication, with exceptional photographic opportunities at every turn.
A collection of ceremony and reception spaces allows the estate to accommodate weddings of varying scale with ease. The Drawing Room offers an intimate setting with garden views, a chandelier and grand piano, while the Inner Hall creates a striking backdrop for ceremonies beneath its skylight and sweeping staircase. For larger celebrations, the Adamson Suite combines original beams with subtle lighting and a warm, characterful atmosphere, and the Bigge Suite provides a more expansive setting for wedding breakfasts and evening receptions, with direct access to the grounds and a strong sense of the building’s heritage.
Licensed for civil ceremonies, Linden Hall allows couples to host their entire day in one seamless location, supported by experienced coordinators who work closely with you to bring your vision to life.
Beyond the celebration spaces, the estate offers a complete wedding retreat experience, with 50 bedrooms, an 18-hole golf course, spa facilities and on-site dining, bringing everything together in one place for you and your guests to enjoy throughout your stay. Couples are also welcome to include their four-legged friends in their ceremony, with a selection of dog-friendly rooms available for overnight stays.
Established in 1813 and thriving through the ages.
At Linden Hall, we take a genuinely personal approach to every wedding we host. Our team works closely with each couple from the very first enquiry through to the wedding day itself, ensuring they feel supported, understood and completely at ease throughout the process.
Because we are a close-knit team, many couples describe feeling as though they are being looked after by extended family. We pride ourselves on building real relationships with our couples, getting to know their story and being there to guide them through each step with care and attention.
On the day itself, that familiarity helps everything feel seamless and relaxed, allowing couples to focus on enjoying the moment while we take care of the details behind the scenes.
Throughout the year, Linden Hall takes on a subtly different character while always retaining its sense of elegance and calm. In spring and summer, the estate is framed by flourishing gardens and vibrant greenery, with the lawns and grounds providing a naturally beautiful backdrop for outdoor ceremonies and drinks receptions. During the warmer months, couples and guests can also make the most of outdoor spaces and activities across the estate, adding to the relaxed countryside feel of the day.
As the seasons progress into autumn, the surrounding woodland becomes rich with colour, creating a warm and atmospheric setting across the estate. In winter, the Hall feels especially inviting, with open fires in the main house creating a cosy and welcoming atmosphere, alongside the warmth of the log burner and character of the Linden Tree Pub for guests to enjoy. Each season brings its own atmosphere, allowing couples to choose a backdrop that reflects the feeling they want for their day.
Linden Hall has the personality of a refined country estate that feels both grand and welcoming. Its Georgian architecture, sweeping grounds and period features reflect its rich heritage, originally shaped under Sir Charles William Bigge, whose vision helped establish its sense of elegance and stature. It is easy to imagine he would be proud to see the Hall still enjoyed today as a place of celebration and gathering.
That history sits comfortably alongside a relaxed and approachable atmosphere. The venue offers a timeless and versatile backdrop, where the character of the building enhances the day without overpowering it, allowing each couple’s style and personality to come through naturally.
The sweeping tree-lined driveway creates a striking sense of arrival, while the Georgian architecture of the Hall provides a timeless backdrop for portraits and group photographs.
Golf buggies are also available to hire, making it easy for couples and photographers to explore the wider estate and access more secluded locations across the grounds. The striking entrance pillars offer a dramatic frame for arrival shots, while the warm stone exterior of the building photographs beautifully in natural light, often taking on a soft glow as the day moves into the evening.
Beyond the house, 450 acres of parkland and woodland provide a variety of settings, from open lawns and landscaped gardens to more secluded, atmospheric spots among the trees. This allows for both grand, cinematic imagery and more natural, intimate moments. The changing light throughout the day further enhances the variety of photographs, ensuring each wedding is captured in a way that feels unique to every couple.
Make time to step back and take it all in, your wedding day is about the experience as much as the detail. Focus on what feels most meaningful to you as a couple, and trust your venue team, family and friends to support you in bringing everything together seamlessly.
Linden Hall offers everything in one place, allowing couples to enjoy a seamless wedding experience from start to finish. With elegant ceremony and reception spaces, 50 bedrooms, spa facilities, an 18-hole golf course and on-site dining, the estate is designed so guests can relax, celebrate and stay together without the need to travel elsewhere. It creates a complete countryside retreat where the entire wedding experience unfolds in one setting.
We regularly host weddings that reflect a wide range of cultures, traditions and personal styles. Our flexible spaces and experienced team allow us to tailor each celebration to the couple’s individual requirements, ensuring every wedding feels authentic, respectful and seamlessly delivered.
In certain circumstances, we also offer the venue on a dry hire basis, allowing couples to appoint their own specialist or self-catering caterers where preferred, particularly where cultural or bespoke dining requirements are best delivered by an external team. This flexibility ensures each celebration can be realised exactly as the couple envisage, without compromise.
We welcome LGBTQ+ couples with open arms at Linden Hall. Every wedding is treated with the same level of care, respect and attention to detail, and we are proud to create a space where all couples feel comfortable, supported and able to celebrate their day in a way that feels true to them.
Linden Hall often leaves a lasting impression on couples and guests alike, with many returning to the estate over time, drawn back by its familiar atmosphere and sense of connection. It is the combination of setting, hospitality and experience that tends to stay with guests long after the celebration ends.
