Ellingham Hall is a privately owned venue set in eight stunning acres of Northumbrian countryside. From traditional exteriors to contemporary finishes, the Estate includes the elegant country house with 29 bedrooms, extensive gardens and two unique ceremony spaces for up to 140 day and 180 evening guests for a unique and entirely exclusive two-night wedding experience.
The venue excels with its period charm interwoven with modern day luxury. From high ceilings and underground games rooms, to architectural periodic features and a show stopping staircase - the perfect choice for a seriously wow-factor wedding with all the boutique hotel details.
With luscious lawns, peaceful streams, mini waterfalls and enchanted Woodlands, Ellingham has no shortage of breathtakingly beautiful outdoor spaces. To help you maximise the grounds on your big day, the venue also offers the use of rooftop terraces, a drinks reception patio, outdoor ceremonies and our much loved adventure treehouses.

- Exclusive use of the Hall and grounds, including all 29 beautiful presented bedrooms for a two-night wedding celebration (56 guests)
- Express check-in from 4pm the night prior to your wedding
- Evening food for Hall guests and a fully staffed bar the night prior to the wedding

"We’re just travelling to the airport now for our honeymoon and we haven’t stopped talking about how amazing the whole weekend was. From the minute we got to Ellingham Hall, every member of staff we saw was smiling and happy for us to be there and full of congratulations! All of our guests were amazed by the attention to detail from all of you and our friends and family have made comment on the food and it being ‘the best wedding food I’ve ever had’.
We’d like to say a personal thank you to Debbie, Alicia, Charlie, David and Nick. You were all a massive part of making our day run perfectly and we’re so thankful it was you making our weekend run smoothly. You’re all amazing at what you do and thank you for the personal feeling you gave us."

"I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the best day of our lives. I can't put into words how much we loved our wedding day. Your staff were amazing- a special thanks to Alicia and Debbie for all their hard work both the day before and the day of our wedding (and all of Debbie's work in the months before our wedding!). Everyone was so lovely and helpful and really made the day seem effortless, which I know it won't have been due to how much work goes in behind the scenes! Please thank them for us as we didn't get a chance to and I want them to know how grateful we both are. We've had so many comments on how good everything was and how beautiful the venue is. We had another venue provisionally booked but you totally changed our minds and we fell in love with Ellingham after that call. 'Ben and I just wanted to say the biggest thank you to you all for making our wedding day so special. We genuinely had the best most magical day of our whole lives in the most beautiful setting. So many guests commented on the staff and how lovely you all were, but that at the same time it was like we had Ellingham to ourselves. Debbie you were amazing and the day ran so smoothly down to your fantastic planning. I especially appreciate you keeping me calm before walking down the aisle, I was so nervous but I actually think it was the highlight of the day. Thank you so much Debbie, you are amazing at your job! We also want to say a huge thank you to Charlotte. She made us feel so comfortable and at ease, it really was like having another friend at our wedding. Charlotte really made our day even more special and was outstanding throughout. THANK YOU for helping us to have the most magical, perfect wedding day. We both fell in love from the first look around; the incredible exterior, gorgeous chapel and fantastic basement were sellers for us, as well as the exclusivity! Wendy was so warm on the phone and welcomed us straight into the family! Our night before with our nearest and dearest was so special. Our wedding day ran smoothly and the food was the best I’ve ever had! We had so many compliments from guests about the food and how experienced and professional the staff were, helping the day to run seamlessly! A big thank you to Debbie for making a stressed bride feel so relaxed and for checking in on us throughout the day. A big thank you to David for making us feel so special, particularly just before I walked down the aisle. That was a special moment! And Charlotte, you were a friendly face at every step of the way and helped the day to run perfectly. Ellingham Hall, you are so much more than a beautiful venue! We know there are so many members of staff who make the day run perfectly so thank you to you all! If only we could do it all over again! 'Debbie, I just wanted to thank you so so much for everything you did in the run up and on the wedding day. It really does fly over doesn't it! All our guests were really impressed with the food, especially all our veggies or guests with dietary requests. They all said the veggie's are usually forgotten about or not given as good of an option, but they really felt included and looked after both days. The non-alcohol drinking guests really appreciated this option too! My mum wanted to thank you so much for the wedding morning as well, helping her out with the balancing act of registrar and mother of the bride - she did amazing! I also wanted to thank Charlotte for her amazing organization and commitment the night before and on the wedding day. She did an amazing job, just knew what needed doing, suggested better ways of doing things and just put me at ease. Ruth too- she was super helpful, especially the night before the wedding when I still wasn't quite with it/stressed. I really wish Ellingham all the best for the future - it's changed quite a lot since we originally booked, all for the better and we had an amazing day. The outdoor spaces are amazing - our guests loved the fire pit and being able to have the drinks reception outside was perfect.'

Ellingham hall staff are absolutely amazing! They made my wedding day perfect in every way, everything I asked for was arranged and delivered above my expectations. Unfortunately an elderly guest had a fall on my wedding and the Ellingham team were absolutely amazing, they changed plans last minute to ensure this guest was ok and didn’t miss out on the day and were soo supportive! I could not have asked for anything more from them. Complete professionals from start to end. Can’t recommend enough.

It's always tough to single out on particular wedding. Some of the most enjoyable recently have involved couples surprising guests with drag queen performances in the evening. The atmosphere is always electric and what a way to start an evening reception!
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Get yourselves a wedding email! Not just to help with regards to planning in general but you can get all your RSVP's to go there and also all your information from suppliers - often wedding inbox's can be full and it's easy for wedding information to get lost! It's also easier to monitor your junk folder from a dedicated wedding email address and as many emails from venues or suppliers will jump in there for the first time.

Where’s the best photo spot at Ellingham Hall?
We have so many at the venue both in and out, but our couples' favourites are in front of our window - it's an original feature for the venue dating back from the 1800's and both couples and guests use it as a backdrop all the time (it's definitely our signature). For the staff, we love when couples take a stroll down through the woodlands and have pictures by our waterfalls!
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at Ellingham Hall?
We've hosted quite a few from presenters to England cricket stars and we have a big wedding in 2020 with lots of guests with familiar guests!
What is Ellingham Hall most unique feature?
We're very well known in the North East for our iconic window located on the first floor mezzanine in the Chapel, that and our beautiful staircase which photographs perfectly as couples walk down heading towards the aisle
What part of your business are you most proud of?
Our customer service to couples and guests. We pride ourselves in investing in our team to make sure we have only the best set of people to look after you on your journey with us. Our General Manager has over ten years experience with the venue, as does our Wedding and Events Manager, meaning you're in very capable hands. Our team have won awards as a whole and also in their own rights. Most recently our Head of Weddings and Events, Wendy Sproul won Wedding Coordinator of the Year in 2018 at the North East Wedding Awards.
