Bolton Castle

A real unexpected treat, decided to go to Bolton on a very wet & windy day as an emergency something to do, what a surprise, a stunning location, a fantastic castle with a little something extra, from the wild boars that great you when you park your car to the fantastic views from the roof and the beautiful birds of prey in the gardens (unfortunately we missed the flying display), there is lovely tea room with lots of homemade cake and pies, all in all a very good day

What a superb day out ! Privately owned and it shows !! Excellent Tea Room 6 stars ! Taking in the actual castle this maybe hard going for the less agile steep steps just take your time !I climes right to the top of the castle fantastic views ! Gardens are an absolute credit the whole feel is just a good one . Falconry display amazing the same handler feeds the Wild Boar all well worth the visit .

Absolutely amazing place to visit! Very informative if interested in History, great for all the family, go for the day, take a packed lunch, plenty to see & explore. Loved seeing the Wild Boar.... On site Cafe. Plenty of parking. Walking trails. Wild Boar.

This is a great place to go. Plenty of space for kids to run around, it has a maze, you can try archery and there's 2 bird flying demos per day, wind permitting. There's a small gift shop and a cafe, we took a picnic. Spent a whole day, good value for money and good fun

Absolutely brilliant day out. Great to explore a castle with dungeon, kitchens, armoury.. courtyard, Mary Queen of Scots bed chamber! The feeling if walking where she walked and where she spent time was incredible. There's so much to see, monks cells, brewery, kitchen and more! Falconry display was on at 3pm and wild boars fed at 4pm! Staff were so friendly. I was so happy to see the dyers garden. I wanted to draw and sketch there but bringing a teenager means no stopping.

All of our guests said how amazing the day was. Definitely the best wedding they had ever been to by miles. It was made even more special by having the Barn Owl deliver our wedding rings!

My husband and I were married here yesterday. Everything about getting married at Bolton Castle, from the first viewing right through to the end of the day, was everything we could have dreamed of from our venue! The castle itself has an impeccable character, charm, and history that we (and our guests) were just dazzled by, and they were so ready to work with the personalized ideas that we had for our day. Their flexibility, professionalism, and responsiveness helped to make the planning experience not stressful, but joyful. The day-of coordinators ensured that everything ran smoothly, which meant that myself and my husband could focus on each other and our guests, rather than feeling like we needed to run the show ourselves! We also must acknowledge the owl ringbearer and archery game provided for our day - these were truly special, fun moments that were greatly enjoyed by our guests and ourselves. The team at Bolton castle were absolutely amazing. The who process from first visit, booking and planning went smoothly and Jacqueline was nothing but helpful throughout. On the day nothing was too much trouble and the staff helped the day run to plan, keeping me nice and calm. 100% would recommend as a wedding venue!

Our wedding day at Bolton Castle was better than we could have ever dreamed of! The venue is stunning and so different to any other venue that we’d looked at. We met Jacqui and booked our wedding 2 years before the big day and for all that time she continuously messaged us and kept us in the loop. I found the Bolton team to be so helpful, nothing was a problem at all. They really helped to me our day run so smoothly so that we could just take it all in and enjoy it. The venue itself is stunning and so picturesque, we had so many comments from our guests saying that it was the best venue that they had been to and how beautiful it was. Even on a very windy and rainy Yorkshire day it was still magic! I honestly can’t thank the staff enough for all of their help, particularly Jacqui who helped so much with the multiple questions that I constantly emailed about over the 2 year period. She was so helpful when we met a few months before the big day and made me feel so assured that our wedding was going to be exactly as I’d hoped for. 5 stars isn’t enough!!!

I haven’t taken the chance to thank you all for making our ceremony so so special. The day went by like a flash but it all felt so effortless and magical, I could not have asked for a better day. The team assisting were amazing and I can’t thank them enough.
