I made the mistake of dry hiring this terribly run venue for my wedding.
You get lured in by the price, being more affordable in comparison to others, but in the end you cause yourself more stress and paying more money finding suppliers to make their shabby tent of a marquee look presentable with draping to cover their dirty marquee linings and flooring to cover the drab dark grey carpets that clash with any wedding decor.
Bedroom door locks weren’t working, nor showers and toilet flushes in ‘suites’ that are over priced for the lack of basic facilities you get. The venue manager or whoever was at the reception, Sophie, has no care in the world to resolve issues when reported or help direct suppliers though this is in the contract, the unhelpful maintenance manager refused to help us test the awful sound system before the ceremony, nor dismantle a dance floor we never asked for in time for our religious ceremony (leaving me, my husband and father in law having to do this ourselves on what should have been our special day). The venue’s mic repeatedly made an awful high pitched sound, ruining speeches.
We paid extra for cleaners who never showed up to clean the toilets for guests, leaving it to get filthy quickly as it absolutely cannot be kept spotless for its maximum capacity of 350 guests (3 very squashed cubicles in each of the male and female toilets is not enough, making guests queue for far too long). Again, no venue manager was anywhere to be seen to help stock up on toilet paper which also ran out.
Their recommended decor supplier, Seventh Heaven, also didn’t bother to collect and move items no longer needed (though Trunkwell are so keen strict on external suppliers having to leave the venue as they found it), leaving me and my husband and family having to move decor and vacuum the venue in time for our religious ceremony when it was their responsibility to leave the venue as they found it.
We were promised a continental hot breakfast, but instead were left with cereal and some stale pastry. To top it all of, when raising the issues we faced to the owner Swapandeep and the wedding coordinator, Lauren, they both took no accountability or showed empathy and instead, were trying to turn the tables on us?! After we tried to hard to save our wedding day with absolutely no support from their team?! Ridiculous service, poor facilities, please save yourself the stress and avoid this venue at all costs. My sister-in-law got married at Fennes and had such a smooth experience if you’re looking for a good dry hire venue, do not bother with Trunkwell House.
