Set in the centre of a historic hamlet, nestled within the foothills of Yorkshire’s South Pennines, our beautifully refurbished 18th century country inn offers superb food, a stunning setting for your photographs, impeccable service and unrivalled attention to every detail. We have two venues on offer at The Woodman Inn and are fully licensed to hold civil ceremonies, and for your special day, you will have exclusive use of our intimate wedding venue, beautifully tended gardens and accommodation for your guests. Country Room: Our intimate Country Room is the perfect venue for those wanting to celebrate their special day in an idyllic woodland surrounding, rivalling any country pub wedding venue in Yorkshire. Our Country Room, located within our Country Inn, is suited for intimate weddings of up to 60 guests. Garden Room: The Garden Room, located in our secluded woodland gardens with gorgeous glass marquee and adjoining Orangery reception area, is more suited for weddings of up to 150 guests. This is set in its own private part of the venue and feels very much an exclusive, peaceful & romantic area. The stunningly beautiful gardens flanked by a lovely stream and woodland really does create a gorgeous setting for a wedding. The tranquil hamlet of Thunderbridge is rich in history, plentiful with wildlife, and such a peaceful woodland location that you might just be joined on your special day by the local deer, a fox or badger. Known by the locals as “God’s own county,” you and your guests will enjoy complete privacy in this rustic haven of unspoilt Yorkshire countryside. This idyllic location truly is the perfect setting for the most romantic of weddings.

Our wedding day.

We got married at The Woodman Inn on 2.11.2023 and we can't thank Kieran and the team enough for making our day so wonderful. When we booked last July to go and look around the venue, we knew straight away that this was the place we wanted to get married. The whole place had a beautiful rustic feel and the accommodation it provides is truly amazing. Kieran the wedding manager was simply fantastic, nothing that we asked or wanted was too much, he put us both at ease and said our day would be exactly how we wanted it. Communication from Kieran right from booking all the way up to our wedding day was brilliant. He was always on hand to answer our questions and reassure us when needed, nothing was too much trouble. When it came to our actual wedding day, the stress was completely taken away with Kieran and the team running it like such professionals. Every single one of our guests commented at what a beautiful venue the Woodman Inn is and how incredible the food was. A couple of our guests had dietary requirements and these were catered for perfectly. The whole day ran smoothly from start to finish and that is all thanks to Kieran and the team. We really couldn't have asked for anyone better to run our wedding for us, Kieran you truly are amazing and are a credit to the Woodman Inn. Perfection

Kieran and the team at The Woodman Inn ensured that our wedding day was, indeed, the perfection people talk about. People want the personal touch and the no-worries day, and the food to be amazing, and no one to be bored, and everyone to be happy. They do it all, and more. Two years ago, we were shown around by Jordan and knew it was the one. A brightly lit pub opens up into a warren of superbly decorated rooms - a canvas for a relaxed, cosy wedding. However, it cannot be expressed more strongly how, without the staff, the building would be soulless. It is them that make it harmonious. Despite our needs and requests, we didn't meet a disgruntled face, not a complaint, not a cutting line - they know that the team they have and the resources they have created are at the forefront of hospitality in 2023: a difficult accomplishment in the currently climate. The food - the best our guests had ever had at a wedding. The service - the best our guests had ever had at a wedding (and believe us, they told us!). The lack of judgement and complete professionalism - noticeable and humbling. We came as clients and left as friends. Kieran - the Weddings Manager - you were the antidote to our stress and nerves. Ben - you received a million compliments about your candour and work ethic. Jordan - you lead a team of wonderful people who must get up every morning and be proud to be part of a forward thinking, hospitable team with a true desire to pursue the best. Where do I even start with how fantastic this place is? I visited the Woodman Inn at the back end of last year when searching for a wedding venue. We were looking for somewhere that looked the part, of course, but the main thing was that we wanted a warm and relaxing atmosphere. I met Kieran at the first meeting (who is absolutely wonderful, might I add) and I just LOVED the place. We decided to go back a few days later for the wedding open day, and after seeing it all set up, we booked there and then. We went for dinner and an overnight stay a few months before our wedding for my partners birthday, and it was so lovely. All of the staff were so friendly and welcoming, and the food was divine. The run up to the wedding.. I could not have asked for more, honestly. Kieran, Jordan and Ben were absolute saviours. So helpful, offered advice, checked in with us regularly, always available to speak to one of them. And then came the day.. IT WAS INCREDIBLE!!!! The chef worked with us to create a Mediterranean style dinner, it was amazing! And the sticky toffee pudding is, hands down, the best on the planet. We danced and drank the night away with our loved ones and it was everything we wished for. My new husband said the breakfast was also amazing, I unfortunately can't comment on this due to the massive hangover that prevented me from eating it 🤣, but it looked delicious. I honestly believe the team at this place are the best in the business, every single one of them. The Woodman Inn will forever hold a special place in our hearts and we can't wait to return. The best day!

The first and only wedding venue we visited was the Woodman Inn. We knew as soon as we got there that it was THE ONE. The venue itself and the surroundings are beautiful and give off the relaxed vibe that we wanted for our special day. We got married on 22/09/23 in the garden room and the day couldn’t have been better! Our guests absolutely loved the venue and we received so many lovely comments about the staff and the food. From start to finish, the whole team were so lovely, especially Kieran, who was extremely helpful and accommodating! Best Venue Ever

The Woodman Inn couldn't have been more perfect. We wanted somewhere secluded, surrounded with nature and with a touch of modern with nothing religious. The venue ticked every box and when we went to see it in person, we fell in love with it and knew it was the one; every other venue we saw online just didn't compare anymore. As soon as we enquired, we was welcomed by Kieran and felt very looked after. It made the experience run so smoothly knowing there was a support network at the venue and no question was a silly question. The Woodman Inn is already a stunning venue, so we felt that doing minimal decorations would compliment it easily. The whole Woodman (Kieran Glanney more specifically) team were so helpful and amazing letting us have the day before to set up, they even set us up with a bluetooth speaker so we could just relax and have a really good time together. It really did create a core memory of the wedding. During the day everyone was on hand and made the day stress-free and extremely welcoming to every guest. The food was outstanding. Every single guest and our long list of allergies were accounted for. We are both coeliac and the chefs made sure that everything was or could be made gluten free that we asked for! We couldn't recommend the venue and hotel rooms enough!

The best day of our lives!

We got married on 02-09-23. From start to finish the staff at The Woodman Inn were truly incredible! We knew that our wedding day was going to be perfect, from the first meeting with Jordan, to our meetings with Kieran, nothing was ever too much and the staff were always attentive and felt like friends. Kieran and Ben ensured that the day ran smoothly, and we can never truly tell you how thankful we are. All our guests commented about how amazing the food was, and how perfect the day went. Having drinks in the gardens, soaking up the sun after weeks of rain, whilst James Hey played piano was just the perfect setting. We were lucky with the weather on the day, but no luck needed from the team at The Woodman Inn as we knew they would make it the best day ever for us.
