The Pumping House Full Description

At The Pumping House we truly believe each wedding is unique. You will work with our wonderful in-house catering team and dedicated Wedding Manager to ensure every aspect of your day is tailored to create a completely bespoke and magical experience. Our old meets new venue features two licensed ceremony rooms, main hall for wedding breakfasts, accommodation and a large lawn for outdoor drinks receptions. Late licensed to 1am, our beautiful red brick building, still featuring the original and distinctive chimney, is located in the heart of Sherwood Forest. The tranquil surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for weddings and offers ample opportunity for unique photography. The Pumping House is just a short drive from Sheffield, Nottingham, Lincoln and Mansfield. Set over two impressive floors you can hold a ceremony in the Ollerton Room which has beautifully unique parquet flooring and is filled with natural light from the original paned windows, creating the perfect setting for wedding ceremonies, this is licensed for civil ceremonies with seating for up to 100 guests. The Engine Hall is also licensed for civil ceremonies from 80 to 150 guests. Guests can enjoy drinks and canapés following the ceremony in The Conservatory Bar or the beautiful landscaped garden. The Engine Hall provides an impressive setting for the wedding breakfast. The unique tiling, stunning arch windows and high glass ceiling create an illuminating space that is perfect for weddings from 50 to 170 guests. The room can accommodate various layouts and can be used as a canvas for different theming and settings. As dusk falls, guests can dance the night away, celebrating this memorable day and bringing The Engine Hall to life. The Pumping House also unveils an oasis of beautifully thought-through, luxury apartments. Nestled at the rear of our historic venue, these ten Self-catering apartments are the perfect accommodation for your wedding party.

Love at first *site*

The Pumping House was one of a few venues we visited. From pulling up in the car park to authenticity of each room, it was for us. We fell in love with the whole site. From our first conversation up until our last, Victoria - our wedding event planner, was 110% supportive. Even whilst she was on maternity leave, she made sure we had someone at the venue to contact if needed. The character of the venue plus our autumnal touches made the whole thing amazing! Many of our guests, still now - a week later, comment on the building, the food, the service and our story. It was truly the best day ever. I wish we could do it all again. Highly recommend this place for a wedding on the basis of, location, appearance, communication, food and bringing a bit of history into your love story. Albeit we got married in November 2023, the weather shone bright for us, which enable us to capture the building at its best. We are lucky enough to only live 10 minutes away, so we get to see the chimney on a regular basis. Thank you to all at The Pumping House.

A perfect day!

When we visited The Pumping House we were blown away by every element of the venue; we loved the industrial backdrop, the unusual side rooms and the stunning accommodation. We also knew from our initial contact with the team that we were in safe, very knowledgeable hands. Throughout the wedding planning process, the one element we felt consistently confident about was that we had chosen the right place to get married and as newlyweds we know we were right to be confident. The communication throughout the process had been great, we had Lian Dixon as our event manager and she was amazing. Always approachable and consistently went above and beyond to accommodate us. So many of our guests commented on how amazing the venue and food were which was great to hear. There is no denying that the team at the Pumping House know exactly what they are doing when putting on a wedding but it still felt very unique and special to us. I think this is a huge credit to Lian and her team, and we would absolutely recommend The Pumping House to any couple looking to have a magical wedding day!

A perfect wedding from start to finish

Well one word to describe our experience at the Pumping House - magical! The whole team were very supportive and informative from start to finish, very accommodating of our Harry Potter themed/ballroom dancing filled day, and incredibly kind and understanding after a lot of family tragedy very close to the big day. The food and service - excellent, our guests loved the host a roast option as it was a fun icebreaker for all our tables. The venue - so unique, we and our guests loved all of the themed rooms. The main hall - perfect for a ballroom dancers wedding as the space is huge, and most importantly a wooden floor! Our wedding coordinator Victoria guided us through the whole process and made our day truly seamless, we couldn’t have asked for more!

Absolutely incredible from start to finish

We had such an incredible wedding at The Pumping House back in August! Being a wedding photographer myself, choosing a venue was a big deal, and I knew right away (having worked at the pumping house as a photographer) that it was the perfect place for our own wedding! It is the perfect combination of indoor and outdoor spaces, meaning, should the Great British weather interfere on your day, you still have some gorgeous indoor spaces for photos! Thankfully for us we had a gorgeous day & made the most of the outdoor spaces & surrounding woodland! Our wedding coordinator, Lian, was so helpful along the planning journey, we are so grateful to her! The food was incredible... (I've eaten a lot of wedding breakfasts in my job, and the food here really is amazing!) All in all, couldn't recommend this venue more!

Everything we ever wanted!

We were blown away the first time we ever set eyes on the pumping house. It has so many beautiful historic features and was a really unique wedding venue. The added bonus of some amazing on site accommodation also helped us cater for younger ones and grandparents in our family who we knew may struggle to last the full day. We were so impressed with our wedding coordinator Lian who made all our ideas possible and took so much of the stress and strain away. There wasn't anything that we suggested that wasn't possible and on the day she made everything run so smoothly. Having good quality food was always important to us and the Pumping house had amazing options and worked with us to create some added options for our vegan guests. We were able to have a relaxed tasting evening, trying the wines and different food options which was brilliant and really put our minds at ease for the big day. The pumping house and their team of staff really made our special day perfect and it is a fantastic wedding venue!
