About Us The Oakwood at Ryther is a Family run Wedding Venue in the heart of the Yorkshire Countryside. Once a generations old family farm, Oakwood has been lovingly and stylistically transformed into a breathtaking venue and the perfect place to celebrate your special day. Offering two modern contemporary barns and luxury accommodation for up to 34 people, and beautiful landscaped grounds, every element of Oakwood has been specifically designed with your wedding in mind. Facilities and Capacity The Old Grain Store’s original wooden beams and exposed brick work have been carefully restored and now sit effortlessly with the contemporary luxe styling inside. Soft ceiling drapes are accentuated by statement chandeliers, adding modern elegance to the building’s rustic character. The grand central staircase, combining natural wood and sleek glass panels, leads to a luxurious cocktail lounge, overlooking the bar and the dance floor. The Ceremony Hall is a breathtakingly grand space, featuring huge whalebone oak arches and a traditional York stone floor, (and most importantly, a Prosecco bar!) The Ceremony Hall’s church-like setting is the perfect place to say ‘I Do’. Accommodation Just across the courtyard from the Old Grain Store and the Ceremony Hall sits the Accommodation Barn. Sleeping up to 30 people, in 14 bedrooms, the accommodation also boasts a huge open plan kitchen, dining area and living space within a beautiful glass and oak double height extension. Services Upon booking your wedding at The Oakwood at Ryther, their experienced Wedding Planner will work closely with you. Here, they will listen to your ideas and make sure that they are implemented on your fabulous occasion. What's more, the venue's friendly staff will also be on-hand to ensure that everything goes according to plan.

The day I wanted was one that I didn't need to do anything or get stressed and you certainly made sure of that! The day was absolutely perfect and as you probably guessed I am not someone who can easily give up control and I'm so glad I did. Everyone who came told me how amazing it was from start to finish and how beautiful the venue was and how lovely all the staff there were too. You were so calm and had everything under control it made me feel so at ease and I just enjoyed every minute.The day I wanted was one that I didn't need to do anything or get stressed and you certainly made sure of that! Laura - Thank you for everything you did on the day. We were lucky to have you with us, looking after us all day and making everything perfect. The Best Day Of Our LivesThe Best Day Of Our Lives
We knew from the minute we stepped foot out of the car in the car park of The Oakwood that this was where we wanted to be married. The setting and the venue have been so carefully curated, thought has gone into every element, every positioning of things, and this thought and attention to detail meant that the day ran absolutely seamlessly. If we needed further convincing this was our venue, Jess was the one to do it. Her bubbly personality and enthusiasm for our happiness was exactly what a new engaged couple needs! It was clear within the first 5 minutes that she knew what she was talking about, and she knew what needed to be done to ensure the day runs as planned. We discussed details, how it would run, and available dates... and booked it within hours! During the run up to our big day, Jess was always contactable for any queries, and she helped us to make sure that we had everything planned when it was needed. Cue the big weekend. On arrival on the Friday afternoon, everything was ready and looking absolutely radiant. Jess was there to greet us and show us where everything was, and then she left us to it! The rooms were STUNNING. Every single guest commented on how beautiful their room was and how excited they were to get dressed in the morning. We all congregated in the shared living space and it was just perfect - some people were playing games, we had people preparing the food (we planned jacket potatoes and toppings which worked really well) and we had a little group finishing off stamping our confetti. The room flowed brilliantly, everyone was involved with what was going on, and it was an evening filled with fun and laughter. On the Saturday morning, the bridal suite was bustling and again it all flowed brilliantly. There has clearly been a lot of thought put into the get-ready space and it was an absolute pleasure getting ready there. We were also allowed to bring our Dog of Honour for a bit of the day which was just such a kind addition as she is our baby! There are so many spots that make for beautiful photographs, both inside and outside. Again this has been so well thought out, without it being particularly “posed”. Our guests’ jaws were on the floor as they wandered around the different areas of The Oakwood, and we were so proud to show it off as ‘our’ venue. We really could not have chosen a better venue to spend our special day and weekend. One of the best things they gave us throughout was the complete lack of any worry. We knew we were in safe hands. We are so incredibly happy with everything about the day, and a large part of that is due to Jess and The Oakwood. We recently got married at the Oakwood and our experience from start to finish was absolutely fantastic. We started looking for a wedding venue -at the start of 2021 and as soon as we visited the Oakwood for the first time we fell in love with the venue and we knew this was where we wanted to get married. At the time the venue was fairly new so we have loved watching it all come together with each visit. At every visit we have a left with such a lovely feeling, the venue is truly magical. The venue - the venue is beautifully landscaped and doesn’t really require much additional decoration which was perfect. The barns are all naturally beautiful and the additional lighting in both are perfect - we particularly loved the fairy light wall in the ceremony barn! Having the accommodation on site and the venue for our whole wedding weekend was so nice and we were able to spend some quality time with our closest family and wedding party before and after the wedding. The accommodation itself is so unique, every room tells the story of the owners and each room has its own decor which we loved! Jessica & the team - we have absolutely loved working with Jessica over the last couple of years. She has helped us plan the wedding down to every little detail and always answered questions and concerns very quickly. Jessica’s support is what stood out the most to us, she was there all weekend making sure we were ok and making sure everything went to plan as much as possible. As it was a July wedding we never really discussed a weather plan B other than knowing that Jessica had one! On the day we had rain and thunderstorms and Jessica & team adapted everything to work around this without us even having to think or worry about this. On the day we had some other things go wrong and again Jessica went above and beyond, making sure things were sorted. Thank you so much for all your support including all the pep talks on the day! Overall, we would highly recommend the Oakwood to anyone searching for a wedding venue! We chose Oakwood for our wedding day and it’s honestly the best decision of our lives. Jess and the rest of the team are just incredible. We had a few hiccups on Friday night with suppliers potentially not being able to attend due to snow and they were just above and beyond, finding us a backup photographer and band just in case they couldn’t make it. They took so much pressure off us and allowed us just to enjoy the whole day. We chose Oakwood for our wedding day and it’s honestly the best decision of our lives. Jess and the rest of the team are just incredible. We had our wedding at Oakwood on Easter Saturday 2023. We had the most perfect day, with Jess on hand at all times whenever we needed her. I later found out that one of my bridesmaids was pregnant but didn't want to tell anyone yet, and Jess discretely sorted her out with alcohol free drinks all day, which was a really special and personal touch. The venue itself is beautiful and barely needs any decoration. We had the perfect day in August 2023 for our wedding day. When we first visited back in 2021, we were instantly impressed by the quality of the gardens, the barns and the luxury feel of the accommodation. The beautiful ceremony barn lights just make the room feel that extra special. I look back on our day and it was incredibly special - seeing our friends enjoying sitting outside in the gardens, socialising upstairs in the bar area and enjoying the space. I wish we could do it all again!We had the perfect day in August 2023 for our wedding day. S’mores - we love making our own s’mores with our very own heaters here at Oakwood with a side of an espresso martini! You know where you’ll find us!

What is your venue's most unique feature?

Our Ceremony Hall is truly spectacular and offers such a wonderful space to say your vows. We have beautiful floor to ceiling curtain lights which truly are the perfect backdrop to you 'I do!'.

What part of your business are you most proud of?

Absolutely everything! The venue was born from a family who ran a farm and it is unrecognisable from where we began. The transformation into The Oakwood at Ryther has been nothing short but spectacular!
