Describe the best wedding that happened at The Lawn?
With twenty seven years’ worth of weddings behind us, selecting just one of them for that accolade is nigh on impossible. There have been so many weddings at The Lawn that have been truly memorable for all the right reasons.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
It is all about the Bride & Groom celebrating their wedding and not all about the guests. It is a Big Day but should also be a fun day and not a day spent worrying that every last guest has received the right personalised favour. Relax, enjoy and you will find that your guests will too!
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
Often a couple will have a very special, furry friend who they want to have with them to really make the day complete. Whether a dog playing a key role during the ceremony or a horse joining the couple for photos during the drinks reception, we like our couples to want for nothing on their wedding day.
Describe The Lawn in 5 adjectives
Romantic (it has been selected as one of the top ten most romantic venues in the country).
Exclusive (we will only ever host one wedding at a time).
Welcoming (it retains the character and warmth of the Manor House home that it once was).
Idyllic (set in three acres of landscaped gardens with 120 acres of parkland).
Memorable (our couples and their guests often speak fondly about and recommend our venue for years after the wedding day).
Where’s the best photo spot at The Lawn?
Too many to list. Our wedding photographers love this venue as they have the run of the house with it’s sweeping staircase, galleried hall and full length balcony along with its stunning gardens, fountain and expansive lawns. It really is one big photographic backdrop!
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at The Lawn?
Numerous famous guests, including a England Rugby Captain, a leading Formula One driver, a certain very well known Radio 2 day time presenter and a wedding for an silver medal winning Olympic rower.
What’s your favourite canapé?
The Thai fish ball is to die for.
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
Bacon butties all round!
What is The Lawn most unique feature?
It may sound strange but it would be its ‘feel’. Almost to a couple, our Brides & Grooms develop a special bond with The Lawn and comment how relaxed and at home they feel. It is a very special place.
What part of your business are you most proud of?
It has to be the people that make it all possible - from the Wedding side through to the garden, maintenance and Estate teams. It is a family run business and many comment the staff is like a large family as well. This is reflected in the atmosphere of calm and friendly professionalism that such a team creates.
Our events team pull out all the stops for their clients. It is not just about selling and all the team members, including the owner, that conduct the viewings would also be involved in the planning and the management on the day. The majority of the team have been here for over ten years and have literally thousands of weddings’ worth of experience. Everything just flows. They are the best!
