The Grain Store Weddings

One of the most memorable weddings we’ve hosted made the most of everything our farm by the sea has to offer.

The couple chose to say their vows by the beach with the sea as their backdrop. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed drinks and canapés in the farmhouse garden before making their way to the Grain Store for a relaxed wedding breakfast and evening celebration.

As the sun began to set, the atmosphere completely transformed. The Grain Store was filled with candlelight, flowers and music, with everyone coming together to eat, drink and dance long into the evening. There was something really special about the whole day — from the peaceful seaside ceremony to the warmth and energy of the party later that night.

What made it particularly memorable was how naturally the day flowed between the different spaces. It felt relaxed, personal and completely at home on the farm — exactly the kind of wedding we love hosting.

Our number one tip? Plan the day around how you want it to feel, rather than trying to make it perfect.

There are so many decisions to make when planning a wedding, it’s easy to get caught up in the details. Start by thinking about what matters most to you as a couple — whether that’s an incredible meal, a relaxed atmosphere, spending time with your favourite people, or dancing the night away — and let those priorities guide your choices.

And don’t be afraid to leave a little room for the unexpected. The most memorable moments are often the ones you didn’t plan for!

One of our favourite personal touches is when couples bring elements of their own story into the day — rather than simply following wedding traditions.

We’ve seen couples use family recipes, handwritten notes, childhood photographs and meaningful little details throughout the day. One particularly lovely idea was having photographs and memories of loved ones displayed around the venue, creating little moments for guests to discover as they moved through the day.

It’s those personal details that make a wedding feel truly theirs. The flowers and décor might be beautiful, but it’s the stories, memories and little touches that guests remember long after the last dance.

Welcoming, stylish, unique, fun and yours!

Without a doubt, the best photo spot is at the top of the farm. It’s the place where you really appreciate just how special the setting is, with panoramic views stretching across to Dartmouth and all the way towards Start Point Lighthouse.

It’s particularly magical around golden hour, when the light softens and the sea and countryside seem to go on forever. It’s the perfect spot for those wow-factor couple portraits, but also a lovely place to sneak away for five minutes together during the wedding day and take it all in.

The views really do provide the backdrop — there’s very little you need to add.

Every couple is treated like a celebrity with us!

It has to be a really good Devon crab canapé. Fresh, local and beautifully simple — it feels completely at home here by the sea. We love food that reflects where we are, and there’s something rather special about enjoying a taste of the coast with a glass of something cold while looking out across the water.

It has to be freshly made pizzas! After a few hours on the dance floor, there’s nothing better than a hot, delicious slice to keep everyone going. It’s the perfect laid-back late-night treat — and always goes down a storm with hungry guests!

Our most unique feature has to be the setting. Perched at the top of the farm, we have panoramic views across the South Devon coastline, looking towards Dartmouth and Start Point Lighthouse, while still being surrounded by the charm and character of a working farm.

Couples can say their vows overlooking the sea or in the farmhouse garden, then bring everyone together in our beautiful Grain Store to eat, drink and dance the night away.

It’s that combination of coast, countryside and rustic farm buildings all in one place that makes the venue so special — and gives every wedding a backdrop that’s completely its own.

We’re most proud of creating a wedding venue that feels personal, relaxed and completely connected to its surroundings.

We’re also incredibly proud of the atmosphere we’ve created. It’s not just about having a beautiful setting; it’s about the little details, the warm welcome and seeing couples and their guests truly relax and enjoy themselves. For us, there’s nothing better than watching a couple’s vision come to life and knowing they’ve made memories here that they’ll treasure for years to come.. I miss them when the wedding is over!
