With a typically relaxed Inn environment, The George is a classic escape to the country with a beautiful garden and rustic stone walls ideal for you to surround yourself with the people you love on one of the most important days of your life. When booking with The George, you have the choice of a selection of different private dining suites ideal for both large and intimate parties. The Brunswick Room seats up to 16 guests, while the Hanover can host 50, or alternatively you could exclusively hire the entire pub for a grand party for up to 90. The team at The George understand that every wedding is unique, and that is why they will work closely with you from the moment you book to the moment you leave. Whether it is creating a delicious menu of modern British classics, or ensuring the décor is perfect, no task is too big or too small for them. You can have exclusive use of The George, even have your wedding ceremony here with our fabulous celebrant Pamela Woodford taking care of the proceedings in The Hanover room. Its your country house for the day. In the winter all four working open fires will be a blaze, perfect for that romantic cosy feel, your guests can curl up on one of the many leather Chesterfields dotted around the property over three floors. Why not pop in for coffee & a chat about your lovely day. We have many years of Event experience and are on hand to help with all the organising of your very special day. If you’ve always dreamed of getting married under the stars or you want to celebrate getting married in a slightly less formal manner, then having the service of a wedding celebrant could be ideal for you. The ceremony contains many of the elements that you would expect to see at at a wedding ( exchange vows & rings)

A wonderful wedding!
Right from the start Alison and the team really listened to what we wanted and more than delivered We wanted an evening reception for around 50 people but for it have an informal dinner party feel. The team came up with a plan for canapés and fizz on arrival, a 2-course meal and then cheese. We were given the option of 4 different main courses for our guests to choose from, the 4 suggestions were perfect but we also had the option to change them. The day itself was amazing. We arrived to find the pub ready for us; fizz was served along with tasty canapés, really imaginative. We then had the use of the 2 large upstairs dining rooms, they were decorated beautifully. One was set up as a dining room and it looked stunning, the tables were all decorated with flowers / candles etc. Not wanting a formal table plan all the place cards (beautifully hand written) were placed in the other room for our guests to pick up and place at their choice of table. The main course was then served followed by dessert, we divide against a wedding cake opting instead for a cake made of cheese, the pub had lead this out beautifully in the other room along with crackers, pickles and chutneys. We have had so comments on how enjoyable the wedding was, the food and wine brilliant and the setting was perfect. To sum up our reception, well…. brilliant. We had a totally relaxed evening knowing that everything was in the hands of the professionals! The attention to detail and care taken over our reception was exceptional. All we can say is, THANK YOU to Alison, the Landlady, Chef Alex and Laura the Manager and the rest of the team.
