Happy couple married in April
May 2018
Magnificent venue, even more magnificent staff
We held our wedding here on 28th April 2018. We could not have been happier with our choice, from the initial contact, to the planning, to how the event was managed. From the moment we first visited as we were making our initial search for a reception venue, we were struck by the professionalism and impressive competence of the staff - a theme that continued throughout our experience and drew much comment from guests on the day. The planning process was made easy: all our questions were answered swiftly and confidently, matters were all confirmed in writing for us down to the smallest detail, and every single one of our requests was accommodated with positivity and a can-do attitude. Indeed, the staff used their considerable experience to help and guide us on a number of decisions we'd not given much thought to prior. The hotel was completely flexible with the food and drink requirements and when we started to get down to the nitty gritty details in the couple of weeks beforehand, were completely and cheerfully patient with us as some guests requested changes as we needed to correct errors on our part. We went into our wedding on the day feeling supremely confident, and that confidence was deserved. During the day every guest I spoke to complemented the warmth and first class level of service from every single member of staff - nothing was too much trouble for any of them and small details and generosity with the food and their smiles ensured the guests had a wonderful time. The staff evidently listened to our wishes when it came to the service, for example I asked that they ensure the pudding wine was chilled and there was no delay between it and dessert. On the day the staff ensured this happened - the staff clearly care about getting the details perfect and it was clear they paid attention to what we wanted and intended to deliver it. The food itself was completely delicious, and to a very high standard with generous portions, all served very efficiently. We had good wine and in the evening a wonderful Charcuterie which was generous, rich and elegantly laid out. To round off the evening staff served us bacon and sausage baps, circulating around the remaining guests with trays. The hotel itself is situated in stunning grounds with a magnificent view from a number of bedrooms. The entire place has a welcoming, cosy vibe about it. My best man said that the hotel and his room had a "warm, homely smell and feel to it". It is the very quintessence of a warm welcome and a good bed in the country. We had the day of our lives here and the hotel and its staff did everything in their power and considerable competence to make it a relaxed and magnificent day. If you are considering a venue for your wedding I cannot recommend this hotel and its staff enough. I've mentioned the staff a lot because I feel it doesn't matter how grand or homely the setting, it is the staff and their hospitality which matters the most. On this count our day cannot be faulted. You will do very well for a wedding here. I hope this substantial review reflects that.
