Sparth House is a family-run Georgian manor house wedding venue in Clayton-le-Moors, Lancashire, built in 1740 and around 45 minutes from Manchester. Named Exclusive Wedding Venue of the Year – England 2025, we have a homely, relaxed feel throughout. Your wedding spaces are always private, and full-house exclusivity is available when all 16 bedrooms are booked by your wedding party or you cover any unfilled rooms – and we never charge a venue hire or exclusivity fee.

Your very own wedding coordinator will ease your planning journey and be there on the day to run it to perfection. Stay the night before in our gorgeous Garden Apartment with up to 5 of your bridal party before an exciting morning of getting ready, all whilst our award-winning team look after you.

You'll walk down the aisle in our ceremony room, before enjoying a drinks reception in the main house, with so many perfect spots both inside and out for those photos to last a lifetime. Our wedding breakfast room is a stunning, neutral space with wooden floors throughout that will complement your theme perfectly. Our team provide outstanding service, and the reviews for our food speak for themselves.

Dance the night away at your evening reception before heading up to our beautiful Wedding Suite. In the morning, breakfast awaits you and your nearest and dearest who stayed over in our 16 bedrooms, which sleep up to 40 guests.

Our package price varies depending on day of the week and time of year; they also include the minimum number of guests required for that particular date. Just send us an enquiry to receive our packages and pricing. Our most popular Full Day package includes the night before in our gorgeous Garden Apartment and everything you need for your wedding day, from welcome drink, to wedding breakfast and wine, to evening food and our Wedding Suite. Additional guests and extras can be added. Three-Day Wedding Weekend: if you would rather the celebration didn't end after one day, our Three-Day Wedding Weekend gives you Sparth House exclusively for three consecutive days, from the evening before to the morning after, with all 16 bedrooms (sleeping up to 40 guests) reserved for your wedding party, the Garden Apartment the evening before and the Wedding Suite on your wedding night. Based on 40 guests the evening before, 60 day and 100 evening guests on the wedding day, and 40 for breakfast and lunch the morning after; more can be added. From £27,000 for 2026 dates. We never charge a venue hire fee or exclusivity fee. For a personalised quote, just let us know your preferred month and year and also your expected guest numbers and we'll be happy to help.

I honestly believe the Sparth House team are the best in the business and that booking my wedding with them was the best decision I could have made. I don’t know about other brides but I found planning a wedding really overwhelming (hence the 6 months it’s taken me to write this review!) and, prior to seeing Sparth House, genuinely didn’t know how I was going to do it. However, I absolutely fell in love with everything about the venue and the team when we went to visit and am so thankful that I booked that first show around. Throughout the whole process, the team took so much off my plate that I don’t know what I would have done without them and I cannot thank them enough for making the day what it was. From the very beginning when we met Emma, she made me feel so special. She asked what kind of wedding we were looking for and seemed so genuinely excited about helping us design the perfect day for us as a couple, making it clear that no two weddings look the same at Sparth House. She answered every one of my million questions (in the beginning and throughout) in a way that made me feel like she was excited to put my anxious mind at ease and passionate about giving me a gorgeous wedding day that suited me and my husband. Every panic I had about forgetting something was immediately alleviated whenever I spoke to the team who so very clearly had thought of, experienced and perfectly prepared for every eventuality. They are absolute experts at what they do and what they do is give you the exact day that you want - but better. Even down to deliberately talking to my bridesmaids away from me so I couldn’t be stressed about the time on my actual wedding day (my request) or carving out time for me and my new husband to catch moments alone throughout the day, everything they do is so obviously honed through years of experience and tailored to exactly what you would like on your day. I could list so many times where I was in awe of how they perfected moments and adapted when needed but this review would never end if I listed them all. They are such a thoughtful team of genuinely lovely people. We had guests travel from far and wide and all of them had nothing but gorgeous words about our venue choice. The service is impeccable, the food is exquisite and the grounds themselves are stunning. All of our vendors’ faces genuinely lit up when we told them our venue because they love to work with the Sparth House team and I think that speaks volumes about the way they treat people and how slick their operations are. I had heard horror stories about wedding venues and the hidden costs but I can honestly say I experienced nothing of the sort. From the moment we set foot in the venue on the first day to now (almost 6 months after our wedding - we still got a Christmas card!), I felt nothing but genuine passion from the team that they want to curate gorgeous weddings. I never once felt that they were trying to squeeze money out of us and still, to this day, I’m baffled that it was such good value for the incredible day we had. The package listed is absolutely enough for your wedding and the extras are just that, extras; they’re not requirements or things you would assume should be included (although do yourself a favour and get the canapés because I honestly might go through wedding stress all over again just for those pork bon bons). Even the next morning after our wedding, Olivia called me over to say gorgeous things about our wedding videos and rave to me about the way my husband looks at me. Right down to the last minute with them, they were still making me feel like the most special person in the room and echoing that passion for weddings and marriage they showed all along. I also absolutely adored that everything was in one place; I got to stay the night before for a beautiful night in with my girls, get ready in the morning in the same place, get married right downstairs and have the reception right next to that. So many of our guests also got to stay over so they really do take so much stress out of planning and make your day as easy as they can. From an incredibly anxious and stressed bride, I cannot thank Sparth House enough for keeping me sane. I always felt like I was in the safest, most competent hands and I truly believe that as long as I had something to wear and some guests to turn up, I could have gotten away with doing nothing else for my wedding because the team had everything else in hand to give me a perfect day. They never once made me feel difficult for my many emails or my many questions and, instead, made me feel as though that fuelled them further to prove that my wedding would be amazing (it was, they were right!!!). I am so incredibly grateful to this gorgeous venue and its team. Whatever wedding you’re envisaging, I promise you that they will take that vision and perfect it. The Sparth House experience was exceptional. They worked so hard in the day in the background to make everything so perfect. Special thanks to Emma for coordinating the entire day and the Chef for the excellent level of cooking skills and producing beautiful food. It’s a lovely venue with hard working dedicated staff. We got married at Sparth House on 29/05/2025. We booked an intimate twilight wedding and it was everything we’d hoped for and more. Emma was absolutely fabulous. She made me feel so welcome at every meeting and put me at ease through every step of the planning process. Her and the team were incredible from our first show around to leaving the venue, the morning after the wedding. We can’t thank Sparth House and the team enough. Had our wedding on 31st July and can't thank the staff enough. Everything went as planned without any problems . The stay the night of the wedding was excellent , immaculate room with everything you need. The food was amazing and the staff exceptional . We would recommend Sparth House to anyone for the beautiful environment, outstanding food, excellent service and totally professional attitude of all the staff. The best decision we have ever made. Choosing Sparth House for our wedding venue was the best decision we have ever made, we can’t recommend the team and their venue highly enough. If you’re currently deciding where to have your wedding, give this a read and good luck with everything! First and foremost: Emma, Olivia, Katie and Callum are the perfect team to handle your wedding and put your trust and faith in. From start to finish they were delightful to deal with. Picking a venue When we first started to look at venues we looked across Lancashire and Cheshire and as you may be, became paralysed by the amount of choice, information to digest and overwhelm of making a decision. Over time we visited many venues, but the majority felt like you were missing something, had to compensate, or they were just far too expensive for what you get. When we had our appointment and tour of Sparth House, we could imagine the whole day from start to finish without giving up or compensating on a single thing. A fully exclusive and all included venue, with rooms that flow from one part of the day to the next, we could visualise our perfect day. From the bridal party night before suite, down to the ceremony room, to the gorgeous main bar and gardens and then into the wedding breakfast room, the venue has a flow which made the day seamless for us and our guests. Whilst also being blessed by the most perfect spring weather and golden hour in the gardens. You will visit many venues, but we can honestly say out of all, Sparth made us feel the most special and privileged when we had our first appointment / viewing. Some venues can make you feel like another number or wedding, even tidying up previous weddings or taking calls whilst showing you around. At Sparth, we were never given a hard sell or felt rushed or required to spend more money. It just felt right. We even had a customised welcome sign, prosecco and home made brownies waiting for us on arrival to our appointment. These little touches don’t sound like a lot, but looking back this was the first of many touches and surprises that they made, which showed us we had made the perfect choice. The run up to the big day We booked our venue around 18 months before the wedding. From booking until arriving for the big day Katie, Emma and Olivia were organised, calm and supportive in everything we wanted to do and try. What was also refreshing, was how well they know and care about the venue. Sparth House is a family run business and you really feel how much the place means to the them and they almost feel privileged to host your wedding at their place. We received so much advice, help and recommendations and at times they were comfortable to advise against things we suggested, and we respected their honesty and experience. Each selection paid off perfectly. Every local supplier we used were perfect and they brought their own specialities to the big day. The day before We had a pre-wedding lunch the day before with close friends and family as the bridal party were staying over the night before, so it made sense to get everyone together before we went our separate ways. This couldn’t have gone any better and Sparth gave us the biggest surprise! We had first assumed we would be on the terrace or inside near one of the bars but given the stunning weather they set up a full Al Fresco party in the garden. Two long tables fully dressed for 30 people, it was stunning and we were blown away. We invited the kids as we had a no-kids wedding and it was the perfect way to settle in before the big day with some outdoor games. The night before The bridal party and Mum’s stayed on site in the stunning garden apartment, which was a huge unique selling point (one of many!) vs every venue we visited. A full apartment with kitchen, living room and bedrooms meant the bridal party could settle in, have pizza and prosecco and get ready with loads of space, in complete peace before walking straight downstairs into the ceremony room on the big day via a cute secret passageway. We can’t express how much of a positive impact this had on the whole day and night before. The big day As many newlyweds will tell you the day goes too fast, and you must take the time to soak it in and enjoy it. We can both honestly say we had the perfect day that went better than we could ever have imagined, it was the happiest day of our lives. It’s only thanks to the team, the venue and everything Sparth did in the run up, which enabled us to relax, switch off and take it all in. There wasn’t a single hiccup. Throughout the whole day Emma and Olivia orchestrated each stage, guest and detail seamlessly. Emma, Olivia and Katie are WonderWomen! The secret ingredient From our wedding taster to pre-wedding lunch, to canapes, to wedding breakfast, to evening food and breakfast on our final day, the food was simply exquisite, and I lost count of the number of compliments from our guests on the food. The food really does matter. This is all thanks to Sparth’s secret ingredient Head Chef Callum, who is an absolute legend and pleasure to deal with. Every course was fresh, original and we were never short on portion sizes! The extra touches From our first appointment to leaving on the day, there were so many touches where Sparth went above and beyond. The Al Fresco set up for our pre-wedding lunch blew us away; our welcome for our appointment was head and shoulders above every other venue; how they dressed the wedding breakfast and ceremony room was perfection and they used the leftovers to dress up the rest of the venue without us asking; before going to bed well after midnight, Callum stayed up and made us our own personalised pizza; due to a bit of confusion on our side Sparth arranged a private taster evening for us because of how passionate we were about the food being right; a week after our wedding and our photo previews had come out, Sparth wrote a full blog of the day which was the best way to top up the wedding vibes (and our review is a response to that!) – we were almost in tears reading it back! These are only a selection of the many ways they made our day special. Saying goodbye After we packed up and left the venue we had to come back a few days later to collect a few pieces we had forgotten. When we pulled back up, we both felt so sad that we weren’t getting married again. We felt like we were saying goodbye to the special place that gave us the happiest day of our lives. We had first assumed we would be on the terrace or inside near one of the bars but given the stunning weather they set up a full Al Fresco party in the garden. Two long tables fully dressed for 30 people, it was stunning and we were blown away. We invited the kids as we had a no-kids wedding and it was the perfect way to settle in before the big day with some outdoor games. The night before The bridal party and Mum’s stayed on site in the stunning garden apartment, which was a huge unique selling point (one of many!) vs every venue we visited. A full apartment with kitchen, living room and bedrooms meant the bridal party could settle in, have pizza and prosecco and get ready with loads of space, in complete peace before walking straight downstairs into the ceremony room on the big day via a cute secret passageway. We can’t express how much of a positive impact this had on the whole day and night before. The big day As many newlyweds will tell you the day goes too fast, and you must take the time to soak it in and enjoy it. We can both honestly say we had the perfect day that went better than we could ever have imagined, it was the happiest day of our lives. It’s only thanks to the team, the venue and everything Sparth did in the run up, which enabled us to relax, switch off and take it all in. There wasn’t a single hiccup. Throughout the whole day Emma and Olivia orchestrated each stage, guest and detail seamlessly. Emma, Olivia and Katie are WonderWomen! The secret ingredient From our wedding taster to pre-wedding lunch, to canapes, to wedding breakfast, to evening food and breakfast on our final day, the food was simply exquisite, and I lost count of the number of compliments from our guests on the food. The food really does matter. This is all thanks to Sparth’s secret ingredient Head Chef Callum, who is an absolute legend and pleasure to deal with. Every course was fresh, original and we were never short on portion sizes! The extra touches From our first appointment to leaving on the day, there were so many touches where Sparth went above and beyond. The Al Fresco set up for our pre-wedding lunch blew us away; our welcome for our appointment was head and shoulders above every other venue; how they dressed the wedding breakfast and ceremony room was perfection and they used the leftovers to dress up the rest of the venue without us asking; before going to bed well after midnight, Callum stayed up and made us our own personalised pizza; due to a bit of confusion on our side Sparth arranged a private taster evening for us because of how passionate we were about the food being right; a week after our wedding and our photo previews had come out, Sparth wrote a full blog of the day which was the best way to top up the wedding vibes (and our review is a response to that!) – we were almost in tears reading it back! These are only a selection of the many ways they made our day special. Saying goodbye After we packed up and left the venue we had to come back a few days later to collect a few pieces we had forgotten. When we pulled back up, we both felt so sad that we weren’t getting married again. We felt like we were saying goodbye to the special place that gave us the happiest day of our lives. We cannot recommend Sparth House enough. It really was the happiest day of our lives. Every single time we visited, people knew who we were, which is such a small detail but makes you feel so valued when you’re trusting someone with such an important part of your life. Emma was always on hand to answer any questions I had - big or small - which was hugely helpful as we pulled everything together. Our Garden Apartment - this has been designed for the bridal party to stay over the night before at Sparth House.
