Food is an important part of your celebration and their head chef is on hand to help you create the menu for you. My partner and I would walk our dogs in the fields around Rose Castle for years, talking about how beautiful the venue was. When we got engaged with the castle in the background, we tried not to get our hopes up when we went to view it, as we had never actually seen inside. But it exceeded all our expectations. From the second we walked in, we instantly knew it was the place for our wedding. Even though we had never considered having a chapel wedding, the chapel ended up being the real selling point for us. We had a moment during our planning process where there were some changes within the team at Rose Castle. However, Becca came into her role and completely reassured us, making us feel excited about our wedding all over again. Nothing ever felt like too much to ask, and we always felt so supported. I’m sure many people say this, but our wedding truly could not have been more perfect. The night before, I spent the evening with my bridesmaids and our mums, and the staff went above and beyond to make my “movie night” happen, complete with a projector screen and pizzas in the beautiful Chinese Room. Having the castle to ourselves meant we were able to soak in the beginning of our magical weekend, all sat together in the chapel watching our amazing florists begin to set up. A special mention has to go to Reuben, who was also incredible. He made sure we had everything we needed and, even when things looked like they might go wrong, he was always there with a quick solution. We genuinely felt like we were in the safest hands. The morning of our wedding was spent with all my bridesmaids and the other special women in my life, getting ready between two bedrooms — one for hair and one for make-up — with the added bonus of being able to use the kitchen for breakfast. For me, it was the perfect morning. I was able to really soak it all in, spending time outside taking in the views, watching our wedding being set up and having time for myself to get ready. All of our guests commented on how stunning the venue was. As the day turned into night, our wedding ended with an amazing party before we stayed the night with all our friends and family. The bar staff were also fantastic — even if our wedding party did manage to drink the bar dry not once, but twice! The staff went out to get more drinks for us both times, which really showed their commitment to making sure our guests had the best possible time. I could not recommend Rose Castle more highly. From both me and my husband, we could not be more grateful to Becca, Reuben and the rest of the team — the chefs, gardeners, bar staff and everyone behind the scenes — for being such a special part of making our perfect wedding weekend everything it was. Not only is it an absolutely sensational place, we were also so well looked after both on the day and in the lead up to it. Carol took over our planning and was always so quick to come back to us, giving us some tips, ideas, just always going the extra mile to make our day special. She really ensured the day was completely unique to us. Owen arranged the link we sent out to all guests to choose their food, recommended a song etc. This was such a useful way of making sure they had everyone’s food choices meaning we didn’t have to worry about it at all! And it was also so easy to track to ensure all guests completed it. It was an actual game changer! Paul looked after us on the day and what a lovely man he is. He ensured the day ran smoothly and I don’t think we could’ve done without him! Time went by so quickly and he was amazing at keeping us to schedule. Everything was a blank canvas and we really could make it our own which is a unique feature for Rose Castle. We had the pleasure of being able to arrange our own menu around the food we liked, rather than having a set menu. Being Polish, I really wanted to incorporate some traditional food items into our starters which was absolutely unreal. The whole menu was just a combination of our favourite meals and it was so special being able to enjoy them on our big day, and they were all so delicious. We stopped at Rose Castle the night before our wedding, just us and our two best friends, and it was so special being able to enjoy the place to ourselves and take it all in before the big day. We didn’t event have to worry about putting all our decor, place names, as the team set everything up for us. The four of us had a lovely breakfast the morning of before going our separate ways to get ready. Carol was with us during this time, making sure we had everything we needed, taking plenty of photos for us as we had chosen not to have a photographer during this time to make the experience as relaxed as possible. She was amazing at keeping us calm, and being such a positive presence. Everything was just perfect from the moment we arrived the afternoon before until we left the day after our wedding. I cannot thank Carol, Owen, Paul and the whole team at Rose Castle enough for all their help in the lead up to our wedding and on the day. They really are all so amazing at what they do. The wedding coordinator and all of the staff were fabulous. The planning, organisation, styling and support on the day were exceptional and they looked after our extremely excited party brilliantly and were unruffled by anything we threw at them. Every detail was accommodated down to the fireworks at the end. We can't thank the wonderful staff enough and the Castle itself is stunning!We attended such a wonderful wedding in October. I absolutely loved that it was right on our doorstep so really convenient for our family and friends to get to our special day. It’s been renovated to a very high spec and was a pleasure to be able to stay there and soak it all up. Upon booking our wedding we were actually told by someone we were showed round by that we would be invited to sample the food we had chosen for our big day. That unfortunately was not the case. We were not invited I had to ask and in the end (after a poorly chef and it having to be cancelled last minute) that did not happen, which was extremely disappointing as it would have just added to the excitement and to the build up. Furthermore the food is a very costly part of any wedding day and I think it’s only right you have an idea what you are getting and serving to your guests. I appreciate that organising weddings and scheduling dates for various things can be tricky, but I think most future brides and grooms would appreciate honesty and not being promised things that can be or will not be possible. All the staff on the day were lovely and extremely helpful and a special shoutout to Tony the wedding coordinator on the day who was lovely and a true professional. During the middle part of the day some of the guests took part in a friendly game of rounders (including the mother of the bride.) We all throughly enjoyed the glorious sunshine with tremendous views and breathtakingly beautiful gardens. I wanted a church wedding my husband did not so the chapel was a really great compromise and we both got the day we wanted. We were there as wedding guests and stayed the whole weekend and couldn’t say a bad word from start to finish. From a guest perspective everything was faultless and we were all so well looked after.
