Rocky Mountain Cottage is an award winning, family run wedding venue set in the heart of the Mourne Mountains in County Down, between Rostrevor and Hilltown. It is a venue with real character, incredible scenery and a very relaxed feel, where couples have the freedom to make the day completely their own.
We host only one wedding per day, so from the moment you arrive the venue and grounds are exclusively yours. There are no other weddings taking place, no shared spaces and no rushing couples through a set schedule. We want everyone to feel at home here and enjoy the day properly.
At the heart of Rocky Mountain Cottage is The View, our main reception and ceremony space, with beautiful views across the Mourne Mountains. We can cater for weddings of up to 160 guests, whether couples choose to have their ceremony with us or arrive after getting married elsewhere.
The venue has grown over the years from our original African stretch marquee weddings into a permanent, all year round wedding venue, while still keeping the relaxed atmosphere and personal touches that made Rocky Mountain Cottage special from the beginning.
Around the venue you will find our converted horse cart bar, gardens and outdoor areas, our traditional old cottage and lots of little spaces for photographs, drinks receptions and time with your guests. The mountain backdrop is a huge part of the experience and changes throughout the seasons.
Venue hire includes much more than simply hiring a room. We provide tables, Chiavari chairs, linen, centrepieces, faux floral arrangements, cherry blossom trees, fairy lights, draping, lanterns, cake stands and plinths, easel, post box and lots of venue décor options. Couples can choose from what we already have and add their own personal touches.
Planning is also a big part of what we offer. Gráinne works directly with couples from their first viewing right through to the wedding day and is always just a WhatsApp away. We also have an online couples portal to help manage guest details, seating plans, dietary requirements and the final wedding arrangements.
Food and drinks are provided exclusively by our award winning partners at No.7 Duke Street, Warrenpoint. Together we offer a range of menu and drinks options, with the No.7 team working closely with couples to create the food and drink experience they want for their day.
Couples can also stay overnight in our traditional 300 year old cottage, with breakfast the following morning, giving them a lovely way to finish the celebrations.
What we are most proud of, though, is the atmosphere. Rocky Mountain Cottage is not a traditional hotel wedding venue and couples are never treated like another number in the diary. We are a family run venue and want our couples, their families, guests and suppliers to feel like part of that family for the day.
We are incredibly proud to be a multi award winning venue, including being named Wedding Venue of the Year for Northern Ireland at the Local Women Magazine Awards.
The phrase we hear most after a viewing is, “the photos really don’t do it justice.” The best way to understand Rocky Mountain Cottage is to come through the gates, see the Mournes in front of you and experience the venue for yourself.
