To create your dream wedding you require a fairytale location. New House Farm situated in the stunning Lorton valley and surrounded by the Lakeland Fells is that unique and special place. Originally built in 1650, New House Farm has retained many of its original features but combines them with a touch of elegance and sophistication to create an atmosphere of a bygone era. Sitting rooms with open log fires, individually designed bedrooms with heavenly beds, delicious duvets and wonderful changing views go to create this unique private venue. The secluded gardens, babbling brooks, enchanting pond and stunning Lake District scenery add the finishing touches to a fairytale wedding and provide the perfect backdrop for memorable romantic photographs.
The wedding receptions are held in The Hayloft of an original Lakeland barn which has been restored to the highest standards with traditional materials. Bright and airy with a graceful combination of rustic chic and modern facilities the oak beams are offset by the natural exposed stone walls.
The Hayloft can cater for up to 130 people with the added benefit of having its own professional kitchen. This stunning blank canvas allows you to put your style and mark on your special day. Exclusive use will provide you with two nights of accommodation in our bespoke country house.
New House Farm is a perfect location for your winter wedding. Surrounded by stunning scenery, rolling hills that go on for miles, what better setting could you ask for of crisp snow-topped mountains and glistening waters. Our winter weddings run from November until mid-March, at a reduced costing.
For smaller weddings we offer a mid-week wedding package which is available at a reduced cost. You will have access to the barn from Sunday Afternoon until your special day to decorate how you please.
For intimate weddings with up to 20, our licensed room within our country house will create the perfect backdrop for your special day.

Travel Notes
By car
Some Sat Navs take you a very strange way and in fact lead you to a farmhouse four fields away. Sadly, in the countryside you can’t rely on being taken straight to the correct door. Postcodes will get you to the general vicinity and some even mange to bring you straight here, but they seem to go berserk about a couple of miles out.
Bring back the good old map I say! Try Google Map searching for ‘New House Farm’ and the post code ‘CA13 9UU’ and that should work.
Otherwise
For anyone travelling from the North or South, exit at junction 40 of the M6 and head west to Keswick and Cockermouth on the A66. The road bypasses Keswick and about 2 miles further on there is a road going left over Whinlatter Pass on the B5289 which takes you over to Lorton. Continue along this road for about 4 miles until the T junction then head left for Lorton – the SAT NAV will try to tempt you off to the left down various narrow roads before you get to this T junction – do not be tempted. Do not take any further turnings, just follow the road. Carry on through the bottom end of Lorton and down the valley for about 2 miles. New House Farm is on the left-hand side with a Cumberland or a St George flag flying (depending on how I am feeling). There is a big sign for New House Farm, a large barn, an off-white house edge in black and probably horses or sheep in the field.
