Describe the best wedding that happened at Milton Barn?
From the many weddings we have had, there are inevitably a few that always stay put in mind. One of our earlier weddings saw a helicopter landing in the barn field, Josh Curnow the cornish singer also sang at that particular wedding.
Another, we had a beautifully polished shiny articulated lorry cab parked in the field, as the groom was a lorry driver. The couple slept in the bed made up in the cab overnight!
A couple from London wanted to bring the funfair here; a coconut shy, some inflatables and a rodeo in the field, festoon lighting both inside and out, and multicoloured foofoo pompoms adorned the rafters of the barn.
Countless beautiful, unusual and unique moments have happened here at Milton. We encourage it and love to see people put their own stamp on the place!
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Communication and organisation is key. Keep a diary, listing dates, names, phone numbers and quotes for all your suppliers and services. Keep regular contact with them all, and ask lots of questions! Don't ever worry about being too full on with the details, the more, the better. We thrive on the information as a venue, because we can tailor your special to your exact specifications. Be sure to enjoy your wedding journey! Nerves are always to be expected with weddings; the long build up to the event, the planning, pre-organising, and trying to make the budget stretch! But remember, when all that hard work has finished, there's no more you can do to perfect things, so relax, take each moment as it comes and relish the day in all its glory! The day will fly by, so try and take away as many happy memories of it as you can.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
Couples often incorporate the most beautiful and heartfelt things into their wedding day. The most poignant thing is always a special memorial for a loved one who has passed away. A special framed photo, with some fresh flowers and twinkly lighting always tugs at the heartstrings.
We also have a pallet board up on the wall with string, lights and pegs for photos to be hung from.

Where’s the best photo spot at Milton Barn?
We have many! But we love the backdrop of the barn itself from the steps leading out from the veranda. We have a granite bench outside, framed by a pergola, and also a romantic swing for two just by the bandstand and patio which offers a beautiful setting.
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at Milton Barn?
Josh Curnow, Cornish singer.
What’s your favourite canapé?
Parma ham wrapped asparagus, or mange tout wrapped prawns with a squeeze of fresh lemon!
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
A farewell glass of bubbly, with a sparkler send off to the happy couple!
What is Milton Barn most unique feature?
Milton Barn is completely hand-built by the family and some friends! It was built directly on the footprint of an old wood shed that housed a sawmill and some livestock pens. The woodwork has been hand sawn and constructed individually together as a task project, using hand tools and the odd tractor! Every part of it is unique.
What part of your business are you most proud of?
