I want to preface that all the staff were so kind. It’s the practicality for use of a wedding that lets it down.
The venue is small when considering a wedding party will all be eating at once. We were reassured that food would be cooked and handed out gradually from 5:30pm-7:30pm (once speeches started).
Unfortunately every single item was being cooked as we were there and food was still being handed out way past that. They were not giving out little portions of evening but instead made all of one item at a time. More than half of my wedding party has already said they did not get to try foods because it took hours and the same food was being brought out. They could not handle the demand. We spent almost £4000 on food with them and soooo much was wasted. They even offered to hand out the cake and that took soo long to cut and hand out that my own mother didn’t get to try it all. Over half the party didn’t.
Another big issue is that you do not get access to the venue until 10am on the day of the wedding! We didn’t on a weekday. So many other venues allowed access the night before to at least store things or very early on the day. It was such a rich and stress that could have easily been avoided.
It seemed very affordable with a £3000 minimum spend to hire it out. But then you lean that there are no discounts for bulk purchasing of food or drink. It’s basically as expensive as the menu, still £13.50 for each cocktail even if you put thousands behind the bar. When we originally discussed the menus, we spoke about possibly buying bulk of a specific beer or wine with a supplier and having it at a better price but in the end we were still paying £12 so a glass of wine.
The clean up service was very lovely and they helped clear up on the day and gave plenty of time for us to collect everything; although, we did still go the next day.
Overall I just don’t think it’s ideal for weddings and it did put a real damper on our wedding and hearing so many people say they didn’t get to try foods. I want to preface that all the staff were so kind. It’s the practicality for use of a wedding that lets it down.
