The Lion and Swan is owned and operated by the Pear Hospitality Group. Refurbished in 2020, the hotel received a £2m investment to revitalise all areas of our magnificent building. On your tour, you will discover three venues within The Lion & Swan, each offering their own contribution to your special day. The Lion & Swan itself hosts 21 beautiful boutique bedrooms, with a fabulous lounge bar towards the front of the building. The lounge is the perfect place for your guests to enjoy during the quieter periods of your day. Sit back and catch up with family and friends in a relaxing atmosphere. Our boutique bedrooms have been meticulously refurbished and have received AA 5 Star accreditation for quality. Ristorante Leone is found towards the rear of the site. Designed as a contemporary Italian restaurant, you will enjoy AA Rosette accredited food from our expert kitchen team. Ristorante Leone will also hold your wedding ceremony, using our fabulous ceremony room adorned in foliage and heaps of daylight to make your moment visually stunning. Radley & Co resides underneath The Lion & Swan. Couples will enjoy the cellar bar as the space to celebrate, dance and enjoy their first party together as a married couple. We have 4 licensed areas across the three venues, ranging from intimate to grand, and we are confident that at least one of them is perfect for your special day!

The perfect wedding day
Our wedding day at the Lion & Swan was perfect from start to finish, we wish we could relive the day all over again. Our wedding coordinator Jess communicated with us through the whole process and made it very easy and enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble and Jess was always happy to assist with any requests from choosing our package and tweaking things to accommodate us. We created our own menu with the knowledge and advice from the chef who produced a delicious meal which all our friends and family enjoyed. The addition of canapes to our package was the perfect add on to our drinks reception, we were able to choose from a wide selection and also request our own additions. The squid Ink and Crab arrancini is a must! Jess and the team made sure the day ran smoothly and were happy to help at any point, all the staff are so friendly and were happy to make our day special. We choose the Terrace for our ceremony and drinks reception, Leone for our wedding breakfast and a section of the lounge area was roped off for our break before the evening guest arrived. Our evening celebration was held in Radleys & Co which was the perfect setting to get the party started, the stage area was setup for our band Double Lively and then followed by Jorge Martin as DJ organised by the venue. We highly recommend this venue for your wedding if you are looking for a relaxed well organised stress free day this is the perfect place for your celebration.

A timeless and classy wedding.
I had an absolutely exceptional experience at this wedding, I would go as far as to say that it was one of the best wedding receptions I’ve ever been too. It was absolutely beautiful and everything was taken into consideration, the staff were beyond helpful, and every flowed so smoothly due to the assistance and coordination of the event organiser. The food selection was excellent and I would highly recommend to many of my friends and family who are looking to book their reception or ceremony to book through The lion and Swan. Thank you so very much to Jess, Skye and Josh in particular, they accommodated to everyone’s need throughout the evening. Thank you so much for an amazing night!

The perfect celebration!
We enjoyed our time here so much, what a perfect venue for, not just the day, but my partner and myself were lucky enough to get a room here also. Everything was so accessible and the staff so accommodating. The reception space was bright, colourful yet elegant and comfortably seated their 50 or so guests. We would highly recommend this venue for a space that fulfills all your wedding necessities and more. Such a wonderful evening! 10/10

Gorgeous wedding venue
We just attended our friends' wedding at Lion & Swan, and it was absolutely amazing! From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. The venue was just gorgeous, and the whole place had a great vibe. The staff were fantastic, super friendly and always there when we needed something. They really made the day go smoothly and kept everyone happy. And the food? Wow! It was so delicious. Every dish looked and tasted amazing. Our guests couldn't stop talking about how great the food was. Big thanks to the team at for looking after the whole family and making wedding so special. You guys really went above and beyond, and it showed. Couldn’t recommend it enough.

I recently had the pleasure of attending a wedding show around at The Lion and Swan in Congleton, and it was an experience worth sharing. Unbelievable!
From the moment we met with Jess, we knew we were in capable hands. Everything was taken care of from start to finish and she answered all of our questions and made it stress free. The day was magical, meticulously planned to incorporate every detail that we requested. The venue is the reason why we chose The Lion & Swan. Each area has its own look and feel, with a different purpose for each time of day. My favourite was the evening in Radley & Co, all of my guests commented on how good the night was and the cellar bar added a great vibe to the party. Sunday Night Stay
We had a lovely experience for our one night stay. Amy who checked us in and showed us up to our room was lovely and so welcoming. The food we had for our evening meal and breakfast was amazing. Our waitress Phoebe was also so friendly and attentive. Will definitely be returning and would recommend anyone to give this place a try!

Excellent Birthday Meal
We booked the private dining room for a family birthday celebration and we had a lovely evening. The staff (shout out to Liam) were very helpful and accommodating in setting up the room as well as providing excellent service throughout the evening. The food and drink was also great.

Fantastically organized wedding day!
We had the best day celebrating our wedding at the Lion & Swan in Congleton! We started with initial discussions over 1 1/2 years ago with Jess, the hotel's brilliant wedding co-ordinator. From choosing the drinks and food menu, to all sorts of dietary requirements, live music requests, arrangements with our photographer, celebrant, hairdresser etc. - with Jess' support, everything was stress-free for us. The food was fantastic (thanks to the lovely chef) and the service team were very cheerful and caring throughout the day. The Lion & Swan was the ideal venue for us as we had some friends and family coming from abroad who were able to stay at this beautiful hotel. The bridal suite is very spacious so you can get ready for the big day in the morning along with your bridesmaids. We can also highly recommend the great breakfast the next morning! To summarise, 3 things stood out: 1. stunning location with the mix of newly renovated bright rooms and elements of historic charm (lovely for photos) 2. exceptional service and food quality with a motivated team 3. the great organisational support from the wedding coordinator Jess during the preparation & also on the special day

Absolutely Fantastic
Absolutely brilliant .stayed new years eve had 2 rooms .me and the hubby and one for the grandson. We were so pleased with our rooms .clean .Comfy .shower amazing and the bed was to die for .wish I could have taken it home .staff so friendly the guy who checked us in .sorry didn't ask your names and the lady who checked is out .the resturant staff so pleasant to .can't fault any thing and breakfast was lovely .cheers to the chef .so thanks for the stay really loved it 100% would come again .

Describe the best wedding that happened at Lion and Swan?

The first wedding we had after our £2.5 million refurbishment. It was breath-taking seeing the venue in full swing for the first time. The couple had exclusive use of the terrace and it was decorated in the most beautiful way.

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

Surprise singing waiters. These amazing actors had the whole room fooled and began the night dropping plates of food and drink, eventually breaking out into a huge argument before beginning their songs. No one had a clue but the bride and groom. Definitely a crowd pleaser!

Where’s the best photo spot at Lion and Swan?

Our venue is filled with photo spots, where to begin! Our terrace is fitted with bifold doors as well as 2 huge pink chandeliers for glamorous, bright pictures of the couple. Head into Radley's for party pictures, you won't get over our neon wall art and don't forget about the flower wall! Lastly, a perfect spot for the whole family is our classic entrance steps.

Smoked salmon mousse on a sour dough crouton with chive cream and lemon gel.

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

Pizza, followed by chocolate covered popcorn. A perfect way to end the evening, after an even more perfect day.

3 venues under 1 roof. Step into our rustic lounge area, The Lion & Swan for arrival drinks and a catch up. Guests can then make their way into our beautiful terrace extension and main restaurant, Leone, for the ceremony and wedding breakfast. The party party starts after this in our newly refurbished cellar bar, Radley and co. After the fun is all over, you needn't travel far to sleep. Choose one of our 21 luxury rooms.

The staff. We pride ourselves on the experience and customer service our staff can offer. They've been highly trained to offer the best service out there and have a passion for all things hospitality.
